Post Green Cable?

Yesterday, I wanted to take the car for a ride, when I tried to turn it on the lights went on but the engine didn´t start, it seemed that the battery is dead, I used the car just the day before and it was working fine

The thing is that last week I had upgraded the stereo with new speakers and a new amplifier, but the car worked fine until yesterday.

I have been searching through the archives and have found something about a green cable that needs to be grounded or you can get your battery drained.

Could that be the problem? how do I check it?

Thanks

ALEX

Here's what you did. I did it too. If you look at your old stereo you will see a strip of insulation on the right side. This keeps a metal prong in the housing from grounding on the stereo. This simple switch is a part of the alarm circuit and if it is not kept from grounding on the stereo body, it will keep the lights in the engine compartment and trunk on, and the alarm will not activate. The important thing is to make sure the "green wire" does not get grounded. I peeled off the insulator from my old stereo and placed it on my new stereo in the exact location. That worked and kept the stereo in the alarm circuit. Others will reach into the hole and find the metal prong on the right side that connects to the green wire. They will clip off the green wire and tape if off so it doesn't touch any metal. Your choice.

Thanks, When I first changed the stereo it was done by someone who has been working at Porsche for a long time (for sure he knew about this green cable) but when I upgraded to an amplifier and new speakers it was done in a car audio shop a good one but I am sure they haven´t worked much with the 964 so I think they have no idea of the green cable.

Thanks
