Wachuko & Mark,
Thanks for the congrats, I'm really liking th car so far. Sorry, but I haven't taken any pics yet, I'll post a few as soon as I have some.

Wachuko,
My car is Polar metallic silver w/ black interior. It may not be the model your thinking of. The '94 C4 WB was a one year only USA model and it was available in more than one color.

Jason,
I didn't know that some even came w/o soundproofing too but yours is an RSA and I think they were purposely void of anything unecessary to cut down on weight but I may be wrong.

I have the same rubber under the factory removable carpet mats. However, my rubber mat over the white foam insulation is craked and missing in some areas. Has anyone out there replaced these rubber insulation covers? If so where dir you get the replacement rubber mats? Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!

The rubber mats are available from Porsche but they're not cheap, I just had the driver's side front priced out at $112.94USD. The only sound insulation in my car was in the front footwells and now with it gone I don't notice any difference in noise levels (can't hear sh*t) so I'm going to add the "rs" cable covers so I don't rub any more of the tape wrapped around the wiring harness off.

Thanks for the information. Is there a part no for the rubber mat under the flooring? And what are the RS cable covers? IS there a part no for them. I will try and post a picture of my cracked floor later.

An ultra-thin piece of sheet-metal that stops the carpet from wearing away the wiring harness sheathing.

Are those part nos. just for the rubber mat or does it come with the insulation attached?

Here is a shot of my drivers side floor. Anyone out there repaired / replaced this rubber mat / insulation layer and if so how?
Thanks,

Jim C.

I think that is everything you need, it came out in one piece and I don't see anything else in the p-dealer parts catalog.

To remove the drivers side insulation/rubber mat I used 3M Adhesive remover, a heat gun, a razor blade/paint-scraper and rubber gloves. If I had to do it all over again I would probably pour gasoline on the mat, light the thing on fire and then cleanup whatever smoke damage there is on the rest car. This is not a fun job.

Yeah, but I noticed that Jim has a fibreglass floorboard in, not the original plywood, so he would not likely get a good flame going.

Jimq's photo shows the factory carpets that should be under your mats. Every air-cooled 911 I have owned or inspected has that set up. These factory carpet sections are often pulled by dealers and others if they are in poor condition. The mats with the 'Porsche' script are just that: mats, not factory carpets. I have been told that you can order the original factory carpet section separately at the dealer and perhaps aftermarket interior vendors.
