Post Front Bearing Repair

Hi All

I managed to replace the front left wheel bearing this past weekend. The only problem encountered was the large 32mm nut securing the hub being very tight. I managed to break a 24" 1/2" drive bar with a 24" pipe extension trying to loosen it. I ended up going to a local shop to have them put their impact wrench on the nut to loosen it - no charge. The axle came out with a few hits of a phenolic hammer. After that the bearing pulled out with a slide hammer quite easily and I put the new one in using the old bearing as a punch. I went back to the shop where I had the 32mm nut loosened to have them tighten the nut again.

Thanks Jeff for your cyberdiagnosis

Good deal Bill...I plan to change mine out in the next month or so as I am entering the car in it's first "official" PCA race.

I replaced the rears last month...what a job!

No problem on the diagnosis - good to hear that I'm actually onto something SOME of the time! <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />
