Post Hard Top for a 911

Hi just was on e-bay and discovered a Hard top for a 911 I know that it's a pretty rare bit of kit

Have a look at the link: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2417016264&category=40246" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2417016264&category=40246</a>

No affiliation with the vendor. Just posted the thing because of the rarity of hard top

For those that can't read German, here's a rough translation (from a web-based translation service):

Hardtop suitable for Porsche 911 Carrera, model from Bj.82-94 color black, sky art leather black with interior illumination and Heckscheibenbeheizung. Cabrio as well as Coupe lets look, Waschanlagenfest. delivery is brought bad because its bulky, either selbstabholer or it you with a Wohnmobil in corresponding costs participation

Wow - a Heckscheibenbeheizung!

Thanks for the translation; I was a bit puzzled. My question would be around price...is 1800 Euro good value? Does anyone know if this is a genuine Porshe part?

Hi Robmug!
"Heckscheibenbeheizung" means defroster in the rear window and "Waschanlagenfest" means that you can drive in an automatic carwash station without any problem i.e. that there will be no Niagarafalls in the car while washing.

1800€ is a snap... if I correctly remember the Top alone costed in it's time around 9000DM or even more

Rob, yes £1200 is an absolute bargain, I think. My mate, Simon from essentially styling, said that last time he saw any for sale they were asking £2k for them. Also, how much does a Boxster's hardtop cost? £5k?

Actually I think the Boxster and the 996 top are way cheaper than UK5k. However the 911 top is so rare. If we were staying in the 9 months a year of bad weather that is Michigan I'd love this. As we're moving back to Texas I probably don't really need it, but it would be nice!

Wouldn't a top like that damage the convertible if the convertible top was down for months at a time like that? Or would it be OK if you un-zipped the rear widow before putting the top down...

Does anybody have any idea how the hardtop would mount? I assume it would use the regular soft top latches above the windshield in the front, but what about in the rear? You must have to add some latches or hooks to body in a few locations.
