Post Torque specs & wear tolerances

I have decided to buy the tools necessary for basic DIY stuff (brakes etc). Clearly, its no point having tools and torque wrenches etc unless you know what to torquee the right bolts to etc.

Is there an online source for this, or am I in for a trip to Gmund books??

John,

you can subscribe inexpensively to Alldata.com, they have torque setting info and they also have Porsche service bulletins (including for example a revision of oil drain plug torque settings down to 37 ft-lbs).

Two printed sources, asides from the factory manual: The Bentley book on the 964, which has a large number of torque settings, and the little Porsche 964 Technical Specifications book.

Not sure I understand this comment. You're not suggesting that Bill G has ulterior motives, are you? I think we're all very fortunate to have his counsel, so if you don't mind, could you clarify.

BTW, if you do need a particular torque spec, you could simply ask the board if you're so inclined. Many have the Bentley book or Factory Manuals, like myself, so just let us know what you need. You just need to be very specific about the size of the nut or bolt you're tightening and the information can be yours at no charge.

Joey I was doing the 'shameless bump'! The post at languished for a while, so I replied, putting it at the top of the list to draw renewed attention. It is, therefore, a shameless bump by me!

Hope this clarifies.

Sorry if there was a misunderstanding!

Let me get this straight. You entered a reply just to keep your thread at the top of the page?

That's brilliant!

Schoolboy forum tactics....I can't claim this technique as my own and only use it VERY sparingly!

Thanks for the offer re: torque spec. I'm going to get the Bentley book, unless I can find a friendly 964 WOrkshop Manual on CD owner to burn me a copy!! (This, BTW, is a hint!)

Byeee!
