CV boot torn
At our DE Tech inspection, we found a torn CV boot on the outer rear joint.
How difficult is it to change the boot? Does the complete axle have to come out? We talked about how hard it is to get the large nut off of the hub (239 lb-ft).
Does this have to come off, or can the outer CV be unbolted after removing the inner CV and axle?

Working from memory - you can change the outer boot without disturbing the hub nut - undo the six bolts that hold the inner joint to the drive flange, knock off the metal cap, remove clip and then the inner joint. Cut of the old outer rubber, slide the new one down the driveshaft and secure with tie wraps. It was a swine of a job to get the big end of the boot over the retaining 'collar', as the driveshaft turns the boot keeps pulling off! Patience prevailed (eventually!)

Thanks guys - can't believe that I missed the thread a couple of weeks ago. I read Rennlist as much as work material!
