Post 964 RS Engine

Just noticed on EBAY, a 1993 964 RS engine for sale:
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1874070149" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1874070149</a>

Note that it comes with DME, harness, exhaust, clutch - good leakdown and with only 21k kms, or so claimed. (I have absolutely no connection with seller!)

Curious to know specs on this engine, displacement, output, etc. Is this a direct bolt-in for the stock 964 engine? Just musing, this snowy morning.

Dear Chuck,
If it is a genuine M64/03 engine it will bolt straight in. These engines were 3.6L with 260 HP.
They used a differently mapped DME, the engine were sort of blue printed (all parts were matched)they were fitted with a single mass flywheel and lightweight competition clutch. They also had a special motronic timing ring installed on the flywheel. I would certainly ask the seller for the engine model number and serial number. I assume no gearbox attached. However if there is ask for that as well.
Ciao,
Adrian

PS: You also want to ask how a 964 RS engine came to be in the USA and now up for sale.

Chuck,
The seller is Charles Coker of 356, Inc. He sold me my Super Cup back in August. He's a great guy to deal with. Very straight forward & I am very pleased with my car. Drop him a line. More power is always a good thing!

According to Bob Gagnon's lightweight 964s comparison (Pano, May '93, pp. 28-40), Adrian is correct, except that the RS Touring version had the dual mass flywheel, while the RS Basic and RS Carerra Cup USA had the "sports" flywheel, which was 15.4# lighter. Also, due to the DME change, 93 octane fuel was recommended for the RSs, whereas 92 octane was recommended for C2s and RSAs (which had the same engine and tranny as other C2s). This small difference might be important to potential buyers who live in the low octane states with a max of 91 or 92 octane.

The RS Euro is only build in 92 and should have a 62N Code as prefix . Also a 64/03 stamped in the Case , no PS , no AC ,1 Fanbelt only If this is a Euro RS engine it is well worth the Money ,and it is rare.
If it is a RS america Version i dont think it is any different.

Dear Jim,
I would challenge the statement that the RS touring had a DMF. However seeing as only 11 were ever built and they were to customer specs it could not be discounted.
