Default Seat recovery??

I did a search, and found that I COULD swap my stock 964 seats for a pair of 993 seats, but I can only find them for over 1000. I did find a company, I have no affiliation with them, called Leaterseats.com. Has anyone heard of them, tried them, etc? The prices seem reasonable and the look seems to match the stock look. They can even match piping, and perforation in the leather, both of which I currently have.

Hawk.. I didn't see a 911 application.. Just a 944... Did you see something I didn't or are they going to make a specialty fit for you? You make just want to keep your eyes peeled on ebay for a deal... It may take awhile... But you'll find them.

hawk911,
Their prices aren't much better than what you'll pay for factory leather from a Porsche dealership (unless PCNA has raised their prices again in the past 3 months). Its amazing how much they can charge for $40 worth of leather...

I called them directly, and because the 944 seats are an exact fit fot the 911 seats, the application is the same. I'm also checking into OEM parts from Porsche; I'll let you know how those prices are also.

BTW- has anyone added the 12 way, upgrading from 8 way? I'd like to do that if possible, but I'm not sure if the loom supports the additional functions. Would I need new sliders?

Hawk,

The wiring looms are the same in all the cars, regardless of whats fitted, so you should be OK with the 12 way seats.

Hawk,

What are you wanting to do? 993/968/944 seats are bolt-ins. That said, as mentioned above, the connector wiring is different for the 993 seats. You can rail mount also use 996/986 seats with a little back yard modification or by using the adapters that run around $200 a seat from Performance or Mid-America (I can't remember in which catalog I saw them). If you are looking to recover your seats, do a search for World Upholstery or GAHH (I think that's right) for kits to recover your existing seats.

Saw both of those places, and I've asked for samples of the material. The price from Leatherseats was <800 for both seats. I'll also check with Sunset and my local dealer- we get close to 20% off for PCA and local PCA chapter membership. Thanks for the input.

Default anyone??

Has anyone stretched new leather kits over existing seats- after removing the old seat covers, obviously. I got a price of $400 to have someone install the new leather, or 2500 for them to make the new seats and install.

At the Concours event, one guy said I could replace the covers myself, with a little patience; just wondering how much of that is true.

Hawk... They just had a special on that on "Horse Power TV"... It looks pretty straight forward. You may need a few special tools but they are very inexpensive. They made it look easy... But the Porsche may be different. I'd say go ahead and try! What's the worst that can happen? You need to take it to an upholstery shop to have them do it? You'd still be money ahead!
