Need everyones opinion on this question
Hi All,
Friend was asking me for his 90 964 C2 which he drives aggressive everyday and an occasional run at the Streets of Willow once a month.
He was asking how would the 964 feel and handle if he opted to put on:
1. Linear springs (400 front) & (600 rear)
with
2. Bilstein shocks (valved F41 for the fronts)(valve R41 for the rears)
along with
3. TRG 25mm bar-front
TRG 22mm bar-rear
Thanks

Well, I have the JIC-Cross suspension with spring rates of about 500 and 700 with sways of 25 and 22 mm. It's damn stiff and no fun to drive on the street (which I have been doing for the last week as the 993 is in the shop). I'd say he'd be nuts to do it for an occasional track car, but how stiff folk like their ride is a personal preference. If he really wants such massive sway bars and stiff springs, at least get shocks with adjustable damping to help a bit (like PSS-9s or the JIC-Cross).

Hi,
I just dismanteled my 964 (was originally a 964 C4) which met few track events and was driven fast on small roads with the good bilstein/eibach/bars... we can add to a car to make it nicer to drive.
Well, I would not do it again : the car is crackeled everywhere ! The original chassis hasn't been built to support such constraints and I should have installed a roll cage and weld the car where it is required before.
So, I know I will not buy any car having a set of hard springs and absorbers.
But if you don't consider this, it is true the car is then very nice to drive

Tell your friend to think twice. Have him drive someone's car with the setup he wants... or close to it. IrocMan is right... I have H&R springs and Bilsteins (lowering it by 1 1/2") on mine and, while it's very fun to drive and sticks to the road like glue, it's no fun on really long drives.
