Post P Zero Rosso

P Zero Rosso. Anyone any experience of these tyres? They are the choice of a local tyre fitter recommended to me by someone who I trust, but these tyres get some VERY mixed reviews.
Your opinions would be most gratefully recieved.

I put them on my C4 and, regrettably, am not impressed. I haven't tracked my car but in enthusiastic road driving they tram-line badly, are pretty harsh and don't give the impression of being hugely sticky. I would not choose them again.

Hi,

I "live" on the 928 Forum.

I have Rosso Assimetricale's on the rear of my BMW Z3 2.8 ( a twitchy car ) and they are excellent. P7000 are on the front.
They are better than the Michelin Sport tyres they replaced

Regards

I had one recomendation for those as currently getting some new tyres. Have decided to get Bridgestone S03's though in the end as the reviews seem that much better.

I've the P Zero Rosso on my 993 C4S and S02 on my 964 C4. I prefer the Pirelli!!
I'm very happy with the Pirelli. The only worst thing about Pirelli P Zero Rosso is that you have to change your tires more frequently than with the S02.

Ciao

I have the P Zero Rosso on my C2. They are a great improvement over the previous P Zero. Far better grip and good feeling. However, they definitely do not last as long as the standard P Zero.
And they do get very good reviews when German car magazine Sport Auto tests cars on the Nurburgring.

Hi,

I've recently fitted them (the N3 version) on my C4 and found them really terrible. Compared to my previous N1 Continentals they have no feeling or grip - they feel quite numb and have the habit of wallowing at the point of maximum adhesion (36 psi all round). I found that they do not tramline but do feel unstable at speed.

For reference, my car has Roock coilover suspension and has (recent) RS alignment settings.

Kevin,

What tyre choice did you make in the end. I went with Conti SportContact 2's (N2) - I find them very good.

I still have the stock michelins on my car (93' C2 cab with 17 inch cup rims- car has about 16,000 miles on it now). Tires in front are original and OK for now per my tire guy, rears were replaced with same stock michelin as in the front at some point by prior owner and are stiill in great shape. The dealer recommended the pirelli P-zero rosso for when I change the tires- he said just do all 4 since to get two michelins in the front that match the original tire type will be expensive enough due to low availabiltiy that I may as well do all 4 of a new brand of my choice.

He said the Michelins on the car now are a harder riding tire due to the older technology from 10 years ago, and the pirelli would handle better AND ride softer. Are the Bridgestone's a better tire than the pirelli for my car, which I do not track or really drive hard (well, I guess how hard I drive the car is open to opinion- I definitely like to get on it in the bends, but it seems I don't drive it quite as hard as some of those on this board ) How much of a difference between the different "high end" tires would I really notice in the real world in a cab that's not tracked? Since I put 3-4K miles on the car a year, the shorter life of some of the tires isn't as bothersome to me...

By the way, I know people question the 10 year old tires still on the front, but they are not dry rotted as the car was stored by prior owner in the garage all the time... the tire specilist (whose job is to sell tires) said new ones could wait another year or two, which at the rate I drive the car isn't many miles

Default tyres

Hi All.

I haven't changed my tyres yet, I'm still looking, been far and away too busy at work, and am so indecisive its unreal. Toyos's are off the list due to high 3k wear rates, Pirelli's I keep having disastrous results with on my Old Audi. and I'm currently leaning towards S02's. although the Goodyear F1's I have on the rear are so grippy its un-nerving, I can hardly get them to loose grip......<insert driving style comment here!>

Why wouldn't you stay with the F1 Goodyear's if they are very good? Are you looking for longer life, or something else the F1 doesn't offer?

I'm very pleased with my Kumho 712 tyres (do some searches - they rate well). Christer uses them too. From memory, Micheldever Tyres supplied them for £59 each (rear) and £55 each (front). + vat and about £6 per pair delivery. My local place fitted them for £20. Full set for around £300 can't be bad! Not only that, they appear to be really nice tyres and handle well.

I had em on my 993 C2S they wore out quickly, they tracked straight poorly and they were loud as heck.
