Detailed engine specs
John,
For lots of details on the 964 engine (and other things) beg, borrow, or steal a copy of the Porsche 911 Story by Paul Frere. In the sixth edition, he writes about 8 pages on the 964 engine, with pics and diagrams.
According to this book, intake valve diameter is 49 mm, and exhaust valve diameter is 42.5 mm with a 10.9 mm lift on the 964 engine.

Melissa - I second that advice.
Until Adrain's book is available, the 911 Story is a great overview of all real (= air cooled) 911's, and really puts the 964 engine in good light compared to this history. Another book that only focuses on the 911 engine is by Tobias Aichele, Porsche 911 - Engine History & Development. Both of these Authors have a long history with the 911.
I look forward to Adrians book to put all the good bits of info on the 964 in one place. But what will we have to talk about when it is published? <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
