Talking New toy

A picture of my 'old' toy taken this afternoon with my new toy - a Canon Powershot G3 digital camera.

Fear not, my 'old' toy will be staying for a long time!

Very nice!! Did you replace the color center porsche crest caps on your rims? I can see the detail of them in that picture! If so, where did you get them- are they stock replacements? How much money? Car looks great!

For a long time, I felt they were too 'dressy' and preferred the understated, serious look of plain black and silver centres.

The crested ones are genuine Porsche items. I think I actually got them from 'Type 911' in England. Can't remember the cost, so it can't have been TOO much.

Great! Believe it or not, I bought some stuff from type 911 all the way from here in the US! They were the only place I could find that had a new owner's manual for a 964 (I ordered from the local Porsche dealer, who tried for 4 months to get me one), and a key blank for the original wheel locks- go figure! I will see if I can find them here in the US as I have seen them, but would only get stock ones. How do you replace them- do the wheels have to come off? I have the colored center caps like you but they only look OK since they are fading

Thanks!

You might find it easier to pull your old ones out if you remove the wheel and push from behind.

FYI the part number for these is 993.361.303.09.9A1

They have a slightly conCAVE surface. There is a similar version with a conVEX surface. There is also a version with a smaller crest, so take care which you get.

Thanks- if I pop mine off, I can probably get the part number off the back, right? Thanks again- great car! I'd love to travel to the UK to meet all the great people on this board & see their cars and have a few pints (of beer, not oil), but unfortunately, I spent all my money on cars-

I removed the crest caps from my Design 90 wheels (to put on the Cup wheels now on my car) by removing the wheels and popping them out from the back with a broom handle with electrical tape on the tip.

Very nice too!

One other way to remove center caps from wheels is to take a small sized allen key and put the shorter end through the hole, gently turn and pull and out will pop the cap...
