Post RS anti rollbars fitted (at last)

As some of you may remember, I had some problems getting the RS bars fitted when I upgraded to H&R coilovers. Since then, the mechanics worked out that you need to loosen the brake servo mountings slightly in order to 'wiggle' the bar in place. It is a LOT bigger than the standard bar. A few hundred miles later I can confirm that all is well and there are no noises of any kind (I say this because you can just about fit a piece of paper between the bar and the brake servo).

Impressions are very positive. You may have noticed that Adrian has stated that he doesn't personally like progressive springs especially on the front? Well, I wouldn't go as for as saying I don't like it, because the suspension setup is so much better than it was before the upgrade but I must admit that I do notice that the attitude of the car can take a few milliseconds to 'settle' under fairly extreme cornering circumstances. Don't get me wrong, it is not noticeable in most situations, and maybe I am just finnicky but I have noticed it a couple of times. After the RS bars were fitted, this feeling has been all but eliminated as far as I can tell - the car rides like a go kart with very sharp turn-in. So in short, I am very happy that I did this, although I may now need 215/225's on the front because I am able to make the fronts scrub/squeal more easily than before. Perhaps I will also stiffen up the rear somewhat, I have not had time to test the overall balance of the car yet.

This means that I do have a C2 rear antiroll bar available for a lucky (i.e. rich) C4 owner. NB: the bar is fine, but requires new 'rubbers' as these have all but perished over the years.

Christer...it took your mechanics to figure that out?? <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />

Check your delete bin and you'll find two emails from ME describing that the front subframe assembly and/or brakeservo would need to be loosened up! ...but your mechanics supposedly wouldn't "hear it" back then.

Okay...sorry...had to take the chance to say, "I told you so". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Either way, even if I don't get credit...I'm glad you got it sorted out.

I had to do the EXACT same thing to install my 25.4mm bar up front. <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" />

Yep, you were right and I think to be honest they took your advice on board for the next guy who arrived with RS bars.....at least they fitted them this time free of charge.

Did I read that your bar is a third of the weight of mine? Is mine also 3 times stronger? I hope so! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Yeah, we've pretty much decided that the fracture was from the incident...but I'll have to keep that fairly low until my replacement comes in! <img border="0" alt="[icon501]" title="" src="graemlins/icon501.gif" />

Truthfully, I want to try an adjustable 22mm and hope that someone will want to try one of these BIG ***** F'rs...we'll see!

Same effect as a 24mm RS bar at 1/3 the weight savings.
