I've recently been given a mk1 golf as a second car by a friend. I've been driving it for 5 months as a work and supermarket car after having the 964 as a daily driver for the last 2 years. All i can say is that after driving the golf for a few days, then taking out the 964, it feels so quick and handles so well. I think after 2 years i started taking the 964 for granted and was considering engine performance mods etc. Now i have a normal car to do the more mundane driving in, i love my 964 even more. I still take my 964 out a few times a week for fun and do regular track days. I'm now saving £150 on my insurance and my fuel costs almost halved too.

I occasionally have a problem when driving my other half's Honda, in that my instinctive judgement of how much time/space I've got, say, to get on to a busy roundabout is based on the acceleration capability of the 964. This can lead to an 'oh s**t' moment.
The Teal is OK, cos it is quicker off the mark than the 964 apart from in the wet when putting quite a bit of power thro' narrow, pre-war design cross-ply tyres gets exciting.
