OK, but there are far less variables right? I wouldn't touch flywheel values with a bargepole.

OK, as promised ,here are the correct specs (now that I have the sheet of paper in front of me)

Pre chip and de-cat: 253.4 bhp @ 6318 rpm
236.8 lb ft @4958 rpm

Max Power Speed: 6403 Rpm
Power at flywheel (corrected): 277.5 Bhp
Power at flywheel (measured): 273.6 Bhp
Power at wheels: 229.7 Bhp
Power Loss: 43.9 Bhp

Max torque speed: 5120 rpm
Max engine torque: 253.6 lb ft

Min Ambient temp: 20 Deg C
Max Ambient temp: 26 Deg C
Barometric pressure: 1009 mb

So there are all the figures for us to mull over some more. I am taking pics of the car for "before and after" comparisons of the suspension. (and also for the international members to see the lovely English summer. To all the South African members, I do miss Chapman's Peak in the summer. The Porsche would just be perfect from Noordhoek around Chapman's Peak, Thru Hout Bay and into Sea Point - Aah, the good old days!)

Mark,
I'm also interested in your comments on RUF - I saw your car last night when I picked mine up from GT-One (nothing as exciting as RUF suspension, but now my air con works).

I had a chat with Peter about the RUF kit - and what Christer said about only 2 springs is true for C2s but to any other C4 owners out there, we apparently get all 4.

Peter said you're collecting the car on Saturday so we'll expect some feedback on Monday. Don't make them too positive - I really should not be thinking about 2K on suspension upgrades.....

Ja Bru!

I wish for those straights going down to CT, Karoo.... Imagine "voet in die hoek" ( roughly translated into - blatting the loud pedal to the floor ) down one of those. England is like Elvis - EL Vis place has got some Kak roads huh.

Made me Lough Out Loud!! Very loud, in fact. Everybody round me was quite concerned with my sudden outburst.

Dave, I am vvv jealous you got to see it first, hopefully the feedback will be OK. Not too positive...what am I saying!! I hope the car looks and drives fabulously! End of spending for me tho, have spen way to much on toys...

Cheers

Mark

what were the pre-chip power at the wheel figures??

You give us flywheel only. Also, what was test temp used for corrections on both the pre-chip and post chip runs?

I ask because test temp and assumed transmission losses are the easy way for tuners to massage the numbers.

Sorry to be such a cynic.

Also, how did hte suspension fitting go>>

John,

dunno. Those (see above) were the only figures I got from them. I can try to scan the plots in if you would like.
The suspension has apparently gone well. I will be fetching it this tomorrow as I have a gig this evening (drums in a Porsche - don't even think about it!) and can't get to it in time. Will be fetching it tomorrow morning. Mmmm.

I am absolutely sure the the folks at AMD wouldn't tweak the results by:

1) applying slightly different drivetrain losses to "calculate" flywheel BHP

or

2) using a higher ambient temp reading for the "after chip" corrected BHP.

That would be sly and underhand, and I'm sure tuners don't do it....

OK, crunch time....

The RUF kit is superb!!!!!!!!!!! of course I would say that, cos I spent all the money on it, but it really is brilliant. It has not lowered the car as much as I expected, but it's low enough so that the wheels don't look "lonely" in the wheel arches anymore. The ride is more pliant than before, and absorbs the bumps really well. It feels much more solid, specially on the motorway, and as far as I can tell, (as much as my limited skill allows) it understeers far less. It corners very flat, far flatter than before. I am really happy with the kit. The other advantage is that all parts are supplied as part of the kit. No extras are needed.

Mark,
Nice to hear you're pleased with it. It's a tempting upgrade - the one thing I don't like about my stock suspension is how hard it feels around town. From your comments, it sounds like the RUF kit soaks the bumps up a bit better. Less body roll is also a very good thing.

I think it will have to go on the list of things I need to get done. Not this month though - insurance is due next month. Need to see how much they think I'm stupid enough to pay before splashing out on upgrades.
