Post LED replacement bulds

II wish to replace all the conventional filament light bulbs with LED modules. You only need to do this once & they are so much brighter & consumer on 30% of the energy of the regular bulbs & never need replacing. I wish to replace the rear tailights & front & side indicator lamps. Any contacts for this.
Cheers, Mark

For the rear lenses, the cheapest place I found to buy them new (they are not cheap) is from Vertex in the US for about $169 for each left and right rear assembly, and $189 for the center assembly. I don't know if they ship worldwide- their e-mail is sales@vertexauto.com

Check out John's excellent 964 web page for information on the LED modules- go to this link and go to "technical", then go to "electrical repairs and modifications"- you'll see a write up on center console lights.

A friend of mine has just got some LEDs for his Lotus Elise - I'll ask him where from and report back. The main problem on the 964 would be the dual filament bulb for tail/stop light - this would be difficult to achieve with an LED...

Following my earlier post, I have found this website which appear to sell *exactly* what you are looking for.

<a href="http://www.3dzled.com/vehicle.html" target="_blank">http://www.3dzled.com/vehicle.html</a>

Will you tell me how you get on? Thanks

Oops- looks like I mis-understood your question (I thought you were looking to update the dash lights and replace the rear lights, two seperate updates). Looks like robmug has the right idea for what you are looking to do...

I've been asking all the shops here for just the thing and they all look at me as tho I was dreaming this thing up.

Will be ordering this asap as I think one of the causes of cracked and faded rear lenses is due to the filament bulb's heat. Just feel the lenses after a night drive....youd think the heat was from the exhaust

I would like to thank all you guys for the info. I will contact the company in the UK first, & also do some searching in Hong Kong, I'm sure the Japanese make LED conversions as aftermarket parts for all the hot Honda & Nissan's around town. Like the Singapore guys, HK gets really hot in summer so less heat in the lights will help the cracking problem around the rear lights..

Slightly OT here, but last October, warmfuzzies posted the following:
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica"> Try <a href="http://www.powerbulbs.com" target="_blank">www.powerbulbs.com</a> they sell Phiilips silver vision bulbs, they are silver to look at bulb will flash orange when indicating.
you might alos try <a href="http://www.speeding.co.uk" target="_blank">www.speeding.co.uk</a> they are cheaper but I don't know about shipping costs etc. I paid $22 for a pair in mine. </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">I just tried the silver vision in my new clear front lens - - unfortunately, they do NOT come in dual filament, only single. I confirmed with the Powerbulbs folks that a dual filament is not available.

So, do we know yet if the LED bulbs are able to simulate a dual filament function for say the front turn signal lamp?

PS, giving away four Phillips silver vision, single filament bulbs. Takers?

I'm trying to ask the company 3dzled.com but haven't had a response yet. As soon as I know I'll post a response.

Hi Guys,

I've been looking at these LED bulbs myself for a while, have a look at <a href="http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm" target="_blank">http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm</a> - they sell both single and dual illumination LED replacement bulbs - BA15S is the single filament replacement, and BA15D is the dual filament replacement. The only thing I'm not sure about is brightness and which colour to use - I presume white would give best results - same as the bulbs that are being replaced? I'd be interested to see what the results look like on a 964 - and what about reverse / fog lamps as well?

Hope that helps,
Pete 90 C4 Coupe
