Did you mean to say slow? The A/C condenser fan normally runs in slow.

It could very well have been slow for all I know, I'm just happy it came on!

Thanks everybody for the excellent replies and in particular for the photo. This duct is the origin of the heat and I am pleased to know that it is normal.
