Post 3.8l conversion/Powerhaus...

Powerhuas advertises a 3.8l conversion which with other work manages +133Hp gains. My question is has anyone done this conversion from Powerhaus? I'm just a little skeptical about the +133Hp....any comments?

Thanks,
Steve

Dear Steve,

There is absolutely no way that a 3.8 upgrade would get you that much additional power....you would have to clearly go to forced induction for such performance enhancement.

Honestly, the amount of money spent on the capacity increase would be so marginal that, unless your car was due for a rebuild, would not make sense in my opinion.

In any case, the 964 engine is so good and generally reliable already, that I would be hard pressed to perform any modifications to it short of a RUF conversion.

Cheers

Harold

From my research, the "normal" gains from a 3.8RS conversion yields about 320-340 HP...on a GOOD day. But then Powerhaus might have a few aces up their sleeve??

I have a friend, (the one who had a broken dist. belt and blew up his engine) that put on 3.8 heads, custom chip, exhaust and whatnot and now turns a healthy 300 +/- 10HP...he didn't do the pistons/cyl. but I must say his car rocks!

The TRUE 3.8RS motor turned 340 MAXIMUM, so I would be interested to hear how Powerhaus does it...I don't doubt it if they say they have their ways, I'd just like to hear it.
