I have a slow leak in the A/C at the expansion valve. Do I have to take the gas tank out to change this out? The manual is saying yes but it's talking about removing the whole A/C system in the dash (Evaporator). I also read where you guys are talking about how a Honda receiver/dryer works in our cars, what model of Honda or what's the Honda part number? Last question, when I put the system on a vacuum to see if I fixed the leak, does this process also take all the oil out as well. Do I need to add oil when I put the R-12 back in?

The TXV is right next to the evaporator coils, so plan on removing the fuel tank to replace it. While you're there, you might as well replace the coils - no sense in pulling the fuel tank twice.

You shouldn't have to remove the evaporator if all you want to do is replace the expanion valve. Once the 2 screws holding the cover inside the trunk are removed the expansion valve is easy to get at. A minimal amount of oil should come out of the system on vacume.
