petrol residue
Hi, Post no:1 begins, is there any way/products recommended for cleaning the residue that builds up from years of petrol usage. Or does it have to be a professional high pressure claen.
Thanks
Kevin

Kevin,
Are you asking about fuel system or fuel injection cleaners? Search previous messages as there has been recent discussion here. Some prefer to remove injectors, for example, and have them professionally cleaned. Others use products like Techron to clean the fuel system.

Thanks Bill,
The enquiry was mainly about injectors. Interesting to note others points on cleaning.
My experience FWIW is there are two issues involved, namely Carbon deposits in the combusion chamber, which should never reach the injectors to any degree, (the 964 is not Direct Injection?) and gum deposits.
It is the gum which is a by product of petrol and its additives which is primarily the cause of poor combustion due to disturbing the nozzle flow and pattern, and it is this I wanted others experiences of cleaning.
oh BTW I'm a fully trained/qualified Diesel technician by trade, but have some knowledge of petrol though not a great deal hence the open question at the begining of the post.
We always used to remove injectors and clean with diesel or paraffin before a rebuild and pressure/crack/pattern test.
