How many miles on her? (you probably mentioned and now I forget)...car looks great! Nice seats- they look like the optional turbo seats! I was so **** when I got my car I bought new rear lights and reflector, took them out of the box and......the ones on my car weren't faded! The car had very low miles when I got it 2 years ago (less than 15K), but I thought maybe the faded a little in Florida where the car was from I put the new ones on anyway and sold the used ones on ebay- they used ones were like brand new! Ironically, I got almost exactly the same amount of money for the used ones on ebay as I paid for the brand new ones! (althought I had to go through the trouble of selling, mailing out the boxes). Anyway, when I get home I'll give you the name of the place I bought them and the amount I paid- it was a little over a year ago I believe.

Wonderful looking car- wish you lived by me so I could see it in person! Good luck with her!

Looks great, Hawk! Glad you and your son enjoyed yourselves, and made it back safe. I love the interior! That piping (you can't see the silicone in the pics ) looks great! Great choice; I'm glad you're liking it!

Default update

my wife and I went out. My son hasn't seen it yet- split placement situation. The top speed was 100 passing a car. No scrapes with the law- I had an "escort" along, and it went off three times, but we only saw 1 LEO.

The mileage was 69900 when we got it, up to 71K plus a few now that she's home.

I love it- the car handles very well, and she jumps off the line like nobody's business.

I'll check out the referrals when you guys post them, but it better come in way under 700- mamotorworks or performance catalog prices- before I replace them. Kind of on a limited budget the first year.

Well... If you ever want to trade them for a beautiful set of Cup rims... Let me know...

OK- I have my receipt for the lights and lenses. I bought them 12/30/02 (after I had the car one month- guess it was a winter project for me ). I bought them from Vertex- the left and right assemblies were $169.00 each, and the center reflector was $189.00. I bought a bunch of stuff from Vertex in the 1990's when I had my '78 and then '87 and they always had good prices. These were the best prices for the lenses at the time (they probably still have excellent prices).

they may have been good and cheap before, but now they are higher than Mid American motorworks by $20 each piece. I'll keep looking; what about LA dismantlers? Anyone have experience with them?

Default Question about carpet

Should there be carpet or just insulation stuff under the mats? I pulled the mats up to find cracked insulation stuff under them- both front and rear. Please tell me this is normal. the carpet that is there has a nice edge binding on it, so I'm thinking the carpet is normal.

hmm- not sureif I feel better or not. the smell could be what my wife picked up on, which means they aren't dry, or are harboring mold? Either can't be good. Thanks for the post.

OK, then buy them at mid-america. Like I said, I haven't tracked the market recently- at the time they were cheaper than mid-america.

As far as porsche dismantlers, the lenses will obviously be used if you buy them there. I had a mixed experience with them- bought a "like new" CCU, which turned out to be one from a 993...this was after me confirming the exact part number I needed (for a 964) before going ahead and purchasing. I sent it back, then they sent me another wrong unit. Sent that back and finally got my money back after a few phone calls (wound up getting my original CCU rebuilt & updated by Otto's of Venice- no more problems). They do have a lot of stuff- it was a bad mix up and a waste of time for me, but ultimately they did send back my money.

Cheapest I found was Sunset Imports in Oregon. Of course that was almost 2 years ago also. 15% over cost plus shipping. Of course Pcar parts have gone way up in the last 6 months.
