UK Service cost sweepstake!
I've mentioned a number of times in the past that my service costs always seem to be high - even when the car seems to be perfect to me when I take it in. From memory, I think last year the annual service cost me about £1700.
Sadly - that's not a one off. Can't remember all the figures without looking them up, but I know that the only service I've had that was under £1K was the one just after buying the car (about £650, 3.5 years ago), and that was by a different specialist to the one I've used since.
So - this time, I've decided to try somewhere else. Car is booked into JZM at the start of may for 24K service - which I believe should cost about £580 if they don't find anything extra needs doing.
Any guesses on cost?
I also plan to have a slave cylinder fitted (had occasional hanging clutch pedal for a couple of years now) - what is the cost of that in the UK? I'm assuming it's nothing very much.
Ignoring the additional cost of the slave cylinder, I'm hoping for a bill of under £1000 (about £600-£700 would be nice)! If they manage that - future services will be with JZM. If they don't - guess I may as well go back to the mechanic I was using (much closer).

I was very pleased with the way they solved a problem for me recently, and would happily support them. They even took the trouble to show me each item they had replaced, and why. No problem with that. Reasonable cost too.

Actually, one of the reasons I'm going to JZ rather than elsewhere is because I have been to them twice for other things. One of which was my brakes - which I'd been trying to get fixed for over a year (ABS problems) and probably spent about £1500 trying - and which they fixed in 1 day for £100.

It sounds like you may have a problem! The best I've had in over 3 years is just under £700! These are not cheap cars to run, but they will reward you if you sell them in lack of depreciation. I always try to budget £2K a year & you should too. It's not always cost me that much, but some years nearer 3K!

Just to add my 2 cents - JZM have my vote of confidence. They're not the cheapest by any stretch of the imagination, particularly on parts since they insist on using official Porsche parts but that's no bad thing.
The thing I like about them is that warm feeling you get when dealing with people who KNOW what they're doing. They have a huge experience and will often recognise problems from previous cars and save bucket loads of labour time by going straight to the problem. The combination of Jonas, Steve, Chris and Dave is unbeatable in my view.

I added up the costs the PO of my car spent and it average about CDN$2100/year (£910/year) but he took it in for everything like wiper blades, to have a new centre cap installed, etc.. I expect service costs in the UK would be higher than here (as most things seem higher there) but I'm hoping to reduce that figure by doing some (and eventually, most) things myself.
