Post Boxster stab on the Sopranos

High,
On the morning show thursday, they were previewing the upcoming season of the Sopranos(big hit mob show on HBO here in the states)and they showed a scene were Ralphie(a mean s.o.b.), says to one of his daughters(or might have been Meadows)friends; "Hey, your dads Boxster?
reply; "yeah"
Ralphie; " It's a Porsche wearing panties",
I thought it was funny as hell! Watch the
Sopranos to see it for yourself. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

LOL <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />

Reminds me of the classic Mickey Mantle quote about Pete Rose "Hell, if I'd have hit that many singles, I'd have worn a dress".....

Apologies in advance to all Boxster owners <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

No kidding! I went looking for the post but to no avail (evidently they pulled it). I did come across a similar post called <a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=12&t=000362" target="_blank">"boxters a girl car?"</a> Man, talk about getting your panties in a wad!

I actually took the time to read through that post on the Boxster board tonight...

...interesting on how temperamental some people can be in regards to what seemed to be a simple observation by someone who thinks there's a high concentration of female Boxster owners in their area (Ohio, was it?)

What was shocking is some of the child-like responses he received. While his observation may have possibly been jaded by his view of what a "manly" and/or "girlie" car is...it may be just as simple as there are a lot of women driving Boxsters in his area!

The man shouldn't be chastised for his question.

I occasionally joke about what my social circle refers to as "girlie" cars, usually towards the new VW Bug...and have been known to kid around about the Boxster and Z3 as well...but it's all in fun, and usually taken that way.

Heck, I wouldn't mind having a Speed Yellow Boxster S myself!

I do have to say that Jon and Christer had some pretty good responses, of course Jon's was a little more "risque" - but hey, we're all adults here - aren't we??

I still await someone to challenge the 3.4 equipped Boxster with their 964 though...that would be interesting.

Jeff

I kind of did. Well, what I asked 3.4 was how much his car plus conversion cost. I told him that after spending that sort of money on my car that I would be willing to take him (or his C2-smoking old lady ) on. I figured his new car and conversion cost to leave me with at least around $25000 for upgrades.

Gotta say that I read the thread on the Boxster web and could not believe some of the responses. Seems that some (not all) of the Boxster guys should be driving Toyota MR2s or Honda Civics with 6000hp and running 21" rims with that hot slammed look....

Christer....some good come backs on your side....well done, at least it proves that we are a bit more mature than some of those guys....

Wow, there really were some very touchy people on that thread weren't there? Think I'll steer well clear of any boxter owners in future (except the girls, obviously).

The 964 list seems a lot more relaxed and we seem to have a bit more of a sense of humour (if we didn't, the tip owners would have hired an assassin to get rid of Christer by now).

Take it easy - I am sitting in pinstripe seats - that's alot worse than having a Tippy-slush-tronic. I should get sympathy. not abuse.

Actually, I would have given you sympathy - but I distinctly remember you saying that my tan leather seats were worse than pinstripes!

High,
The post on the Boxster forum "Is the Boxster a girls car" is why I stirred the pot, but in best taste for the entire site my post there was pulled, which I agree with 100%, as I did not post it with the best taste....all you can do is see it on the Sopranos and enjoy.
When the attacks after Christer"s reply started I had a hard time letting the bashing of the 964 go by(espcially by a Boxster). But in reality we all know the truth, even if the Boxer's wont face it....Catch the Soprano's on Sunday nights on HBO.

It's good to know I have made so many friends. Mind you, it could be worse - you could be driving a C4

I don't usually get narked (at least not on web-pages) but the remarks of a bunch of Boxster owners in that thread really annoyed me - especially as the original question was pretty innocuous........

The retort I loved the most was not Jons or Christers (although I enjoyed theirs) but tonytaylors reaction to a misread of his self-effacing reference to his car color after 10 or so years

Yes, but if I polish my C2 it will be red, if you polish a Boxster it will still be slow.

So, rightly or wrongly, my over-generalized view of Boxsters is "nice car, shame about [some] of the drivers!"

Ciao
