Is there a link that someone could provide on how to properly bleed the brakes/hydraulic system on a 964? Can power bleeders be used to flush out the ABS and traction control circuits? Are they independant or do you need to bleed both at the same time? I think I read somewhere that the only way to bleed the differential lock actuators was to go to a shop with a Hammer that could cycle the locks. Could you do the same thing by engaging the diff lock switch on the console('89 C4)? Finding a shop in Western Mass that has a Hammer has not been easy.

The SS lines should have a PTFE liner, which is not so suseptible to the damage and swelling the rubber ones are, I had two rubber ones fail on my 10 year old Audi during an MOT, I couldn't see them myself, but was shown them on the MOT by the tester, frightened the life out of me...

Have a look here.

Power Bleeders can't flush the ABS or PDAS systems - you do need the Hammer for that. Diff lock switch alone won't do it, AFAIK.

P.S. A good place to find DIY stuff is the DIY Forum and the Search function ("Search this Forum" at the top of the forum).

Anyone elso know if the D shaped ends are supposed to be on the shorter set of cables? My set has the D shape of the two longer cables but not on the other pair.

Thanks,
Puma

Cool

Give me 10 minutes and I will post some photos. I got the same ones you did.

If I remember correctly the one with the notch/flat side goes in the front and the other one in the back. Let me find the photos.

Cool

Here you go...

After removing plastic cover from old line and placing in new:

Installed:

and yes... still have a lot of cleaning to do... but later when I am done...

Here is one of the rear brake line bracket. As you can see it is round instead of having a flat side.

Forgot the close up:

Notice the D.O.T stamp on the line... For 54 for the seat... heck... I think that is less than the cost of one original line.
