fou,
interesting find.
Doing some work on the hvac under the bonnet and when I was done the interior lights were on even though the doors were closed. Also gave me the bong bong when I put key in ignition indicating door open.
Found the culprit - similar to your problem - the connector to the bonnet switch had come off (two pronged connector to the right of pass side fan). Only noticed because my bonnet light wasn't coming on and I read your post. Must be something to do with alarm system as my interior lights do not come on with the bonnet or engine lid open.

Side note, with the battery disconnected you can't lock the doors from the outside.

yes thanks g60 - the fault is (like most related to the relays it seems) a wierd one.

I traced it this far - interior light stays on/stops reacting to switches (driver, passenger, frunk) unless I open the passenger window about 1/5th of the way down (doesn't help if I just crack the window a little), then switches work again and light goes out.

I cleaned the driver side switch with a small file, will do the same for the psnger side tomorrow.
But seems the relay is ok. Hopefully this will solve the battery draining issue PO had (and for which I got $500 off). Any other insights welcome as always. Pity Adrian not posting anymore as he seems to have commented extensively on this and related elec. issue about 10 yrs ago.

Just game cross this thread while trying to figure out why the interior light stays on regardless of my door switches working fine. Scratching my head...To answer the question about Adrian, I heard he wrote the book, then went on to other hobbies. Good book as we all know.

My light was not turning off because I had the frunk and engine lid lights disconnected. They are on the same circuit. My batt drain was as simple as I started the car through the window and didn't open and close the doors so windows stay powered up. Duh.
