Post USA 0-60 Competition Results

Since the UK fellas are having all the fun, I thought we could post some results on the other side of the ocean. I posted the following on the thread A tale of two 964s:

On my first try, I started with too high of RPM's and my clutch took a "rest" as I had a befuddled look on my face. Apparently no harm done. With more reasonable RPM's I tried four more runs... Here are my 0-60 times:
6.25 seconds
5.49 seconds
5.92 seconds

I'm guessing these aren't bad considering my only upgrades are a cut airbox and new wheels and tires. To clarify, my Michelin Pilot Sports are 205-55-ZR16 front, 245-50-ZR16 back.

I ran some runs a month ago and listed them on the U.K. 0-60 post:

1. = 5.85 sec.
2. = 5.55 sec.

I just got back from a few runs, my times were at 41.5 degrees F. with humidity at 35%.

1. = 5.86
2. = 5.38
3. = 5.65
4. = 5.28!!!

This is with a Tip!! I just break-torque to 2500 - 2800 RPM and then GO. I'm also showing 245 rear wheel BHP on the G-Tech I gotta get this thing on a dyno to verify these numbers, cause I thought that a 90 C2 Tip was supposed to 0-60 in ~6.2 sec.

I've owned it for only a month. The car has 70800 miles, with 1000 miles since all of the gaskets, O-rings, hoses and plugs were replaced.

Jon, I got similar measurements to yours using my friend's G-Tech while in Chicago this Summer, except my 0-60 and 1/4mile times were slightly lower.

...I did some pretty hard launches though, I have limited slip and lit 'em up.

The HP figures were the same.

Good to know we're all getting similar results.

Hey that's cool! Whether the device is accurate...perhaps some may debate, but the corroborating results show that it is precise which is quite useful.

For now, I'll blame your superior results on your superior driving skills and of course the weather . I was pretty much a wuss with my launches after my rear-end starting hopping around and I blew out of gear. Although I say all this in jest (except your superior driving) I wonder how much effect the water-laden air has on performance. It was foggy with about 100% relative humidity (RH) when I made my runs. Seems to me the water vapor has to displace oxygen in a volume of air.

BTW, what mods have you made Jeff?

Recently I bought my first Porsche (first sports car for that matter). A '90 C2 with Competition Flywheel, Weltmeister chip, modified intake, and muffler bypass. previous owner claimed 275 HP. Very fast, but i don't know how to take advantage of it from 0-60.

Help out a novice please. How do I start the car in first for fastest acceleration? Also what does the Competition flywheel do for the car's performance?
