Question 1 stupid question, 1 not so stupid

High,
I guess i'll start w/ the real question; should the rear spoiler have any play when extended? when i put a finger on each side of mine and push it twards the front of the car lightly it moves foward about a 1/16th of an inch, but slightly pushing down on it doesnt move it, when retracted it has no play.
Now for the stupid; does anyone know the total number of parts it takes to assemble a Carrera 2? don't know why but I wondered how many parts are in there a couple of times, dont know why just have. Please DO NOT disassemble ur car and count them, its not that important!

ps. feel free to let me know how stupid a question that is.... thanx

You need to be more specific. Are screws, nuts, bolts and washers separate parts or part of the part they hold on? Is a dash guage one part, or all the parts that make it up?

John, that's only for a 90 C-4. My friend has a 92 C-2, and we just finished counting, and it has 7,492 parts

Hey Guys,
I am sorry that is for the USA only versions and the RHD UK versions. We have 7,382 parts on a Factory Spec C2 and 7,461 parts on a Factory Spec C4. Excluding option numbers XYZ but including standard options normally installed for Europe,
Ciao,
Adrian

Another stupid question! "Where" are you counting? Is there a list of all parts the cars are made up from? If so, where can i find it? Number of parts in a 1991 Turbo?

Patrick,

The 1991 Turbo had 8176 parts, you need the shop manual to count them all, takes a long time!

Also a piece of advice, don't believe everything you read!

Riccardo - which 1991 Turbo version are you talking about? Between Aug and Oct 1991 there was another version with 8179 parts called the Turbo 2 A. The 3 additional parts were a large fan, an electric motor and a one-piece inflatable rubber skirt. This model was particularly popular in the Florida Keys area for hunting alligators!

Hi GeoC2cab,

Actually not a stupid question....in Singapore, cars are subject to very very high import taxes. Interestingly, car parts are not subject to these taxes (as long as they are not fixed on a car when imported)......I wonder how much cheaper it would be to buy the parts instead!
(of course not a practical possibility because of the registration rules here!)

Hello

Couldn´t fin it but Porsche said the 993 is assembled from nearly 40 000 parts.

Modern cars with more integratet parts maybe have a lower rate.

Anyway nice puzzeling.
