1990 C4 Cab Electrical Problem
Looking for some technical advice or trouble shooting tips. I have 1990 C4 Cab with 19,500 miles. I am the second owner. The car has been babied and well maintained throughout it's life. All service records are in order. The car has had the flywheel replaced and the engine resealed. Currently, the car will not hold a charge. Something is draining the battery in about 36-48 hours. The last mechanic stated the alternator and starter are ok. The battery is brand new. I know the clock and alarm system draw power when the car is off. However, something else is also drawing additional power. Does anyone have any ideas how I could diagnose the problem or suggestions I might offer my mechanic?

Welcome.
Have your climate control unit diagnosed. My c2 cab did the same several years back. Evidently, the units short and just kill the battery after a couple of days. My tech guy pulled the unit out and fixed it, but a new one may be necessary.
Good luck,
AG

Do you have access to a multimeter or an amp meter? You need to figure out how much excess current is being drawn off the battery. Once you know that amount you can kinda figure out where the problem is and then you can start pulling fuses to watch the current draw, checking relays, etc. The procedure for diagnosing a discharged battery is real simple if you have a amp/multimeter. If you don't have one tell your mechanic to look at Porsche TSB 2706-9402 (he should already have it) or chapter 9 in Adrian's book.
