Changing out O2 sensor as part of routine maintenance. Anyone have experience with the use of a universal type replacement sensor in which the wires are cut and the original connector wires are crimped and heat shrinked to the new sensor. Used this type on my old 1983 SC without a problem. Just wondering if the 964 is a little fussy and an exact replacement should be used.

Following up on DaveK's comment, here is a link to a Rennlist tech article entitled "C2 Dying in Rain" (because of non-OEM oxygen sensor).

The PetCD has 964.606.124.01 listed as dropped, use 965.606.126.01 as a replacement. If you call one of the major discounter porsche dealerships here in the US they'll get you the correct part and probably cheaper than aftermarket.
