Changes in black over the years? What were they/how did they change? What were the possibilities for my '93 C2? I know the codes are copywrited and hard to obtain. What do you know, Adrian?

Jon

P.S. Adrian, when do you think you're book is coming out? You have a pre-sale to me!

Dear Jon,
My book is finished. I will just add what I am expecting. Nothing new will be added now. It is time for editing, cleaning it up and graphics design.
In the book is a complete breakdown of all the paints used, their codes and a little history behind it all plus the painting process from Porsche which is a five step process.
I am not sure what you mean by your choices for 1993. Do you mean the whole lot for 1993 or just black. If you were talking black there were two choices, Solid Black and Metallic Black,
Ciao,
Adrian

Mine is a diamond blue metallic which can be seen at http://members.rennlist.com/complete964

Hey, Adrian, we are all awaiting your book- when will it be published, who will publish it, how much will it cost- and most important- where can I get it????

By the way, looks like the 964 is staying with me a while longer- the recession seems to be bringing out bargain hunters that offended my beliefs about how much my car was worth!

Cheers

Harold

Dear Harold,
I would love to give you concrete answers but I cannot. It seems publishing a book is not that easy or quick. The price will be between $40 and $50 because of its technical content. Not that I would recommend you use my book to fix your 964 of course but it contains 5 chapters devoted to describing every system, repair schemes, troubleshooting, parts needed, tools needed, how to do the job at home etc. Part of the cost is also the colour photos that will be used. Black and white is cheaper but not always helpful. I am trying to produce a quality product and this will cost a little more,
Ciao,
Adrian

Ah, back in April, while searching for the perfect C2, I happened upon a Coral Red Metallic one, 1992 vintage...I'm still kicking myself for not driving down to Louisiana and picking it up!!

The guy was having a rough time selling it, I dunno why, PPI was perfect, it had all the bells and whistles, even the "trip computer" installed on the dash by the factory. It only had 32,000 miles on it and a clean Carfax.

Instead, I opted for the MUCH closer Grand Prix White one I found nearby in Charlottesville, Va. No regrets, until I think about that color.

When I get home in a bit...I will try and post a picture, I know Bill had listed it in his post...but you've GOT to see this color! ...as it is pretty rare.

WOW! I pulled it off...I can't believe it, okay, I had help...but don't tell anybody!

Ah heck, figure since I'm getting so good at this "post a pic" stuff...here goes my car. Notice tail is WIP, just fitted it, next stop, the paint shop.

Just sit back and take in the awe inspiring beauty of the factory color - Grand Prix White!

Thought I'd get an example of this ULTRA RARE color on here to support Melissa and I...

Riccardo and Jeremy inspired me to take an "artsy type photo" of my car, being careful NOT to reveal the whole car...one could not possibly take in so much at one time.

Tail looks good Jeff. Wish I had seen it when you were here. BTW, a friend has a 1981 SC which was a "paint to swatch" (or whatever) Ugliest thing I ever saw. Looks just like Primer! I had a chance to buy the car years ago at a good price. While I was test driving it, I had parked it at the office, and one of the girls asked to drive it, so I said sure! Tossed her the keys. When she came back, said she loved the car, but was wondering what color I was going to have it painted.

Jeff, you crack me up!
Thanks Melissa, I'll take that as a compliment. You post the best, most entertaining, and thought provoking questions...good job on another one!

I'm a Tech-Geek for the phone company, here in Virginia Beach, I work nights (11PM-7AM)...that's usually when I lurk in the shadows of Rennlist.

Believe me when I say it gets pretty boring around here in the wee hours of the morning.

So, without further adieu, I must announce that I enjoy sharing any technical knowledge, experiences, and/or just plain relating to other P-Car freaks...but to know that I can bring a smile - makes me SMILE!! ...I consider it one of my goals in life, to make others smile.

The original color I was shooting for was the unbelievable Amazon Green, which as many may know turns up as a dark blue in most settings, but in others, it shows it's green hue. The problem with that color is almost all of them I found were Tiptronics!! I needed a 5spd. for the track. Then I found one, in San Diego, full cage, modified suspension and all, completely setup for the track, for the same price as I was willing to spend - well wouldn't you know, as I was impatiently awaiting payment for my SC (over a month), the car sold to a local just 2days before I got the $$$$ in hand...I had tickets to fly out and drive it back, etc. I was crushed.

Oh well, I really like the GP White...but the Coral Red still buzzes around in my head every now and then, whatta car...I couldn't wait to get home and make an attempt at posting that pic after seeing this!

Jay, I really like that Oak Green, haven't seen that one until you posted it...thanks!

Horst, thanks for the compliment on the new tail, I also have a new "bow-plane" spoiler for the front...I can't wait to get them paint matched!! If you remember correctly, when I stopped in to visit last Summer, I was in a quandry as to what tail I should use, the one-piece RSA tail seemed to be the "proper" one and has generated a lot of compliments between the local Porsche crowd and the guys I work with...my girlfriend even thinks it looks "pretty cool".

Another color, although there are only 3 in existance, that just intrigues the hell out of me is the "paint to order" Ferrari Fly Yellow RS Americas out there...my God!

Thanks to all of you for letting me ramble...I think I'll go back to sleep now.

Speedster,

That silver coupe looks beautiful! Must be one of the ultimate 964 iterations.

Congratulations.

Jeff,

Well, you definitely make some entertaining posts. Here's another recent one that make me laugh...

You never know what kind of driver's behind the wheel of P-cars. Last weekend my girlfriend was getting hit on at a party(she says). I say it was just conversation. Anyway, this guy tells her "he drives a European car...it's a 911 Carrera". Very impressive, eh. She says to him "Oh, do you like the low end torque?". He responds "Oh ya, I had it lowered."
Keep up the good work!

Everyone else, someone sent me an email with a pic of a fly yellow (paint to sample) 964 RS America. Bear with me as I try to post the pic... (Yah, I know, all these posts and I've never posted a pic. And I'm a computer professional. Scary.)
