Euro RS - Wind Noise
At speed, ~80mph +, I get progressively worsening wind noise from my driver’s side door (LHD) window area. I thought it might be just adjustment, i.e. the amount the glass goes up inside the seal, but upon close inspection, it seems to be well up in the seal. Now remember the Euro RS has thinner glass, and it doesn’t look very ‘snug’ in the seals/channels. I was wondering if anyone knew whether this car had specific seals to match the thinner glass? Now maybe this isn’t the source, but I’d be surprised if it isn’t. Anyone solved any problems like this?

Jeepers, Andy. That's terrible. Wanna trade your RS for my RS(A)? My exhaust noise covers up the wind noise.
You've already got your steering wheel on the wrong side, so you'd be used to mine.
If you don't wanna trade, I suspect you may be right. If the channel isn't fairly snug against the glass toward the outside, that will create a noise at speed. I think the window raise/lower adjustments are fairly precise, so they can get a little (it doesn't take much) out of whack over time. But before you try to get it adjusted to rise more toward the outside, you might try placing some tape or something on the upper outside edge of the window to snug it up and see if that reduces the noise. I hope they wouldn't put the wider channel in the RS with the thinner glass.

After I had some work done on my car, I got wind noise from the front of the driver's door.
After a lot of tracking down, it turned out to be caused by defective sealing at the base of the quarter light. It's factory sealed with mastic as well as rubber. You might like to try stuffing a huge blob of Blu-Tak along the base of that glass to see if it helps.

Also, the factory has TWO plastic pieces that "bridge" the gap between the window frame and door, specifically to reduce wind noise.
Check it out and make sure they are there, or you can install the pieces yourself, without too much sweat.
They are located on the front (angled) windowframe rail, right before it goes down into the doorshell and is held on by window sealant and a black plastic plug/cap.
The other one is at the rear windowframe rail, only held on my window sealant.
Again, these items were specifically installed for reduction of wind noise, and helpout a little in the "complete" look department, read as: neatness. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

I know what you must be thinking…. he drives a noisy rattley uncomfortable RS, and complains about wind noise?!
Well, I’d rather be listening to the motor than being deafened by wind noise, especially when I’m, errr…. ‘making good progress’! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
And, driving on the ‘wrong side’ is the only place to be in a 911 isn’t it?!

I'll ad my name to the 'me too' list. It's one of those annoying jobs that you only remember need attention when you're driving the car. And when you're not driving the car you can never hear the noise...

I am 99% sure it will be the mastic as mentioned above.
My car had this very same whistle and once the mastic had been improved (there was some there already) the noise went away.
Trying with a bit of blu tak initially will prove it - you do not need much, just enough to smooth between the front edge of the frame and the door panel.
Car is frozen under snow today but can take a picture if it will help.

I changed the noise-seals that goes above the door in the roof and the A-pillar. It´s a seal that is popped in place with 16 something pop-rivets.
My car is now really silent at speed! It worked wonders.
I believe the part numbers are:
Left: 911 542 403 03 Sealing Rail
Right: 911 542 404 03 Sealing Rail
Rivets 16 pcs: 999 190 204 00 buttonhead rivet 3,2 X 8
