alarm info/wiring schematic for '93 RSA/C2
Not having the shop manuals for my '93 RS America, I'm at a slight loss for figuring out which wire does what at the alarm module connector. I've figured out that the module is located under the passenger's seat One connector has something to do with engine managment and cannot be diconnected. The other (smaller) connector seems to handle all the alarm inputs/outputs.
My plan is to keep the existing alarm module in the loop, but still add the new alarm and it's functionality as well.
Does anyone know of a write-up done on modifying the alarm system? Or, just pointing me at a description of the connector's pinout would work too.
I've already garnered some info on the connections from various sources, but it is patchy at best.
BTW: messing with electrical stuff for me is second nature. However, I don't touch anything without all the facts in hand.
thanks,
Scott '93 RS America.

This represents less than 8% of the original illustration and falls under fair use. <img src="http://users.rcn.com/jandreas/alarm.gif" alt=" - " />

While I'm at it, has anyone fitted the remote window roll-up feature? This is controlled by a (new) alarm module which is fitted to another interface unit. After seeing the movie Pacific Heights, I decided that it was a cool feature and worth having! :-)
There are two other plugs that are brought out under the passenger's seat. Do not know what those hook up. Some accessories that are not enabled on my car.
thanks,

my alarm unit died last week - so I have spent a couple of hours under there. My alarm fitter then spent two hours (he knows what he is looking at though!).
He is fitting me a new alarm with some microwave sensor - it is hidden under the cassette holder and will chirp the alarm if someone leans close enough to the car (to look into the window for example). I can leave windows/sunroof open and it will not be triggered by things falling into the car etc (like normal moion sensors).
Don't know yet if window roll up is included!

Hey John,
The window roll up module is typically seperate to the alarm module. You hook the two up though, so that arming the alarm either automatically rolls up the windows or you can roll up the windows remotely by pressing a second key on the remote. The "roll up" module has to be wired directly to the wires leading to the window electric motors so there may be some additional effort required there. All the wires for fitting a replacement alarm seem to be available under the passenger's seat (or at least on my car).
One thing for sure, you want to get your installer to give you a schematic of what he has modified by installing your alarm. That is very useful when it comes to maintenance or when you sell the car.
Also sharing such a schematic would not be such a bad thing to educate all of the diy's who like getting into this wiring stuff! :-)
Good luck with getting the new alarm fitted. Let me know how it goes.
BTW: Does anyone know what the "limit switch open/close" connections do? It seems that if you're wiring an additional unit that you want to work in conjuction with the existing alarm, then hooking up the "armed output" from the new unit to the "prime alarm system" input on the old (existing) module might be a good thing to do.
cheers,
