Thanks on computer light fix
The original post looks to be lost, so I wanted to thank whoever posted about pulling the tach, removing the rear cover, and replacing the blue-based bulb. The directions were spot on!

Glad to help. What a difference one little bulb makes, eh? I pretty much ignored my computer display until I replaced the light. Now I use it all the time. It's like having a new toy!

While I used a Porsche bulb as a replacement, I noticed as I was rummaging around in parts last night that I had an instrument light bulb from an '84 Volvo we no longer have, and it appears to be exactly the same twist in base with metal contacts as the Porsche bulb. Had 1.2w stamped on the bottom. The Volvo plastic base is deeper, which makes it possible to hold and turn the bulb without pliars. The Porsche instrument bulbs are .9w and 1.5w, compared to the Volvo 1.2w. Maybe Volvo has different wattages, too. Just mentioning this as it may present an alternative to jury rigging a Radio Shack bulb.

Jay,
The Tach was easy. Pulling it out was tight, and I had to leave the rubber gasket behind to get the gauge itself out so I could work on it. There's one cable with a multi-pin connector, so you lift the black lever and just pull the connector out. There are two screws holding the back on, remove them, pull off the back and voila! The 4 bulbs are right there.
