90 C2 Targa For Sale
I have decided to put my C2 up for sale. I have finished with this project and I am on to another. Maybe a track car this time !?!
1990 Carrera 2, 3.6 liter, 5 speed, Targa. Grand Prix White exterior w/black leather interior, power seats and Porsche mats. EXCELLENT CONDITION and beautiful car. $32,500
This car has 94,000 miles with full service records. No head leaks, distributor vent kit installed, DMF replaced with LUK unit. Car has been professionally lowered (by the best in the business) w/Dopke perches, M-030 sport springs and corner balanced. The ride is great when on the street and firm around the corners – the perfect balance for a daily driven Porsche.
Over $6500 worth of extras on this car includes a, 17” chromed Boxster wheels, Yoko tires, JVC stereo/ CD player and 4 new speakers, turbo bi-wing, white gauge faces, K&N air filter, & Cup pipe. You can view this car at http://members.rennlist.com/c2driver
The targa top is in excellent condition as is the rest of the car. Garaged and well cared for this car is the nicest C2 you will find. Buyer is welcome to have a PPI performed at the mechanic of their choice and references are available to attest to the car this car has received.
You won’t find a better C2 than this ! Email me for any additional information.

High,
I don't understand why u refer to this car as a "project", please explain, throwing money blindlessly into a vehicle only makes sense when u will keep it as "your car", but to expect someone to buy a used pair of underwear so u can put on a new pair seems obsurd , u would probablly have better luck selling it if u converted it bk to stock.
Oh, and as for not finding a better C2 than ur Targa; U obviously haven't seen "my" ride(not project). Let me guess, u want a 993 (yawn). Not trying to be harsh, just living in reality,I have spent much $ on my car(upgrades) and its not for sale wont be for sale, but I still have saved every original part, just in case(one never knows). The least you can do is take that **** spoiler off the lid and put the original bk on, it looks really ******. Sorry man.

928brothers,
Note the date on the post. Due to the disk crash, the indices are all messed up - John is working to get everything back in order, however, there are missing messages and some other oddities, like old messages coming to the forefront as current.

Geo - that's really a very harsh response to an honest attempt by Tom to sell his car. Whatever the wisdom of selling immediately upon completion of an upgrade project, he's entitled to set whatever asking price that he wants. Ultimately, the market will indicate the car's true worth. Tom has been a valued member of this BBS, providing useful information to other members, for quite some time. I think that he's entitled to some more respect.

J-McDonald,
I completely agree with you. As you say, Tom has been a friendly and useful member of this board and I value his advice.
Personally, like Geo, I don't understand how one can spend all that money and then sell the car. But hey, "a man gotta do what a man gotta do". Ultimately, Tom should hold on until he finds an equal minded person which values the modifications he has spent so much time on.
Good luck to you Tom, shame its a bad market at the moment.

What the Hell is this "928 Brothers" stuff??? Are they jealous about their cars having low re-sale values????
I noticed they have no e-mail address.

Dear Bill,
I have discovered a few of these on the board. No return email address and you get the message either the board or the sender is blocking access. I know John is working on it but it does allow people to create problems without any fear. I do not like it either.

I also have to support Tom. He has put a huge amount of work, blood, sweat and tears into his C2. I have hundreds of photos before and after and whoever purchases this C2 will have a great and well worked on, updated and cared for C2. There is some premium that has to be paid for this effort,

To Bill Wagner
I have four 911s for sale at this moment and have had more than a small dealer. I have a small wherehouse full of 911 parts. Jealousy is the LAST thing I feal. I just happen to know the market better than most people, it's what I do. Also a 1990 911 targa will not get anymore than $21,500. That's the market.

High,
Price is not an issue here for me, what bothers me is it looks as if Tom grabbed whatever parts from any model he can get his hands on and slapped em on the Targa; Boxster wheels, turbo spoiler, cup by-pass(u get the pic.),MO3O w/ perches on stock shocks leaves the "project" unfinished(to me at least),,
I'm not doubting Toms know how, how good his car rides, instead of saying he's finished w/ this project, maybe he means "I'm bored w/ the car". I have upgraded my car, and all of them have been done keeping in mind not to vear to far from originality(eg.on my stainless exhaust I use the factory tip)..and if i ever descide to sell it I have the parts to convert it bk if need be,
We can call his car "Lil Bastard II". I hope he gets a 100k for it. Ummm, maybe I am a little too hardcore.

I agree %100. It's not for everybody. Looks like he wanted some sort of 993 conversion but stopped some where in the first half. It's value is LOWER than stock. This is a good lesson for those who want to modify their cars. Stock is always better for resale, in the long run.

GeoC2Cab,
While you're hard core, you're passionate about 964's and your ideals. That's cool. I don't always agree with your ideals, but I certainly appreciate your passion.
Now, I'm going to go out on a limb here and try to speak for Tom. (Sorry, Tom.)
Since Tom has written many technical articles about his modifications, it seems to me that a lot of his enjoyment of Porsche ownership is the hands-on tinkering with his car. Seems to me that he's run out of hands-on tinkering projects and wants to move on to something where he can work on a whole slew of brand new projects. That's cool, too.
(Tom, if I have totally misanalyzed you, I apologize to you and the Board.)
928 Brothers, while this is what you do for a living, your criticism of Tom & his car was a little less than constructive. If your posts are sarcastic in nature and you don't leave an email address, that's when folks start to wonder if you're a troll.
You might also keep in mind that you're selling cars for a living, but people like Tom are selling their personal cars, that they've worked on. It's more than merely a business decision, so you might want to be a bit more tactful when you tell someone their car is overpriced.
OK, I'm done preaching. Back to your regularly scheduled 964 content....

928 Brothers, Maybe you should post the four 911's you have for sale with their market prices. Then your words might hold a little more weight. Sounds to me like there could be some excellent buys. You might even have Tom's next car. It could happen. Roy Eames
