Talking Aftermarket Sway Bars...Let's hear it!

Okay, my latest adventures at various tracks around the Midwest/East Coast have increased my level of desire for a tighter setup. I have the springs, shocks, tires and good brakes I need, but...I still have factory sway bars!

As there are several out there to consider, what are your experiences/opinions on them? I have noticed some people use the ones offered by TRG, Performance Products and Weltmeister.

MY homework has yielded a fairly locked-in decision of going with the factory style "Cup" bars, the ones with 3-5 adjustment holes, 24.?mm or some odd thickness up front and 21mm rear.

So what do you think? Where ARE the good deals? Some of these suppliers that slap their name on someone elses product are way too proud of them...so, let's hear it!

Oh come on already! Almost 24 hrs on this post and no replies? I quit, that's it, I'm outta here, no seriously, not kidding, I'm leaving you guys...bye!

Alright, I'll give it 24 more hours considering all the mayhem afforded by recent events.

Isn't it sad? I hope none of you had anybody involved in that mess. God comfort the ones who did.

Jeff,

As an FYI, I recall that the factory tested going with hollow front bars, and found they couldn't cut it, which is why they went with solid bars. I'll likely go with the factory RS adjustable bar up front, and am still thinking on the rears. The factory RS bar is 18mm, but the RS also ran with an LSD of 20%/100%, which may have had some impact on the thickness of bar used. For the RS, there is also a rear axle cross tube reinforcement part (964.501.883.00, uses 2). Since I don't have manuals or C2 yet, I can't say how they are used, but it's something to keep in mind as you look at updating the rear.

I've been researching the same thing. I'm told the "Charlie Bars" are the best, but they're also hideously expensive. The Weltmeister bars seem to be an 'entry-level' solution that a lot of people go for, only to upgrade later. The TRG bars seem to be a very happy compromise between price and quality, and that's what I'm going to go with, once I get the rest of my engine conversion details completed.
