Post FYI, If you gotta have a Bosch Hammer

I asked Baum Tools if they carry the Bosch hammer, and got this reply:

We do stock the Bosch Hammer with the Porsche recommended cables and module. It is helpful on vehicles up to model year 1996. The total price with cables and module needed for Porsche only is $4375.06 plus freight.

When all you have is a Hammer, every problem looks like a Porsche?

On a more serious note. Beware purchasing a Hammer. Bosch Germany have basically stopped supporting them. The new KTS500 is the machine as far as Bosch is concerned. Roland Kunz was kind enough to supply me the original information which I checked out. My repair facility traded their Hammer in on the KTS500 system. They were sort of forced to. This is part of their agreement with Porsche via AMAG,

Hello

I was aware that the Bosch Hammers will get returned and tried to get my hand on some units yet Bosch moved the repairfacility from Stuttgart Wangen ( just 1 mile down the street ) to Reutlingen. They also moved the old staff into other places or responsibilitys.

The prevoius years it allways was possible to buy refurbrished units on one place while you got the interface with Software on the other place. Yet that politic changed and even for used units you have to run the softwareleasing ( witch consists nearly all cartypes ) and I didn´t could find a backdoor.

My "old" contact Mr. Merkle, who was the gray gohst at Bosch, died last year.

As far my information goes the old KTS tester are not capable to run the newer systems ( bottleneck, they came basically 1985 with the 959 ) and are not produced anymore. The existing stock will be used up to repair existing units.

But stay tuned as I follow a rumor that some guys run a softwareemolution on UniX/Linux.
The system is said to be capable to replace any DME by a Laptop. Right now that stuff is for developers but they will maybe offer a spin off. ( But that would still doo more then most Bosch tester )

Right now for all OBD II cars check that link: http://www.auto-intern.com/php/index.php?language=2

They sale the old units for 50$

Hello

Maybe I can get a "handfull" old KTS 300/301 ( Yellow Housing ) witch will only have the pre 94 software ( Module 928/944/964/968 ) and the interface wire not removable. They wil have the large 19 Pin AMP connector ( 9288/1 )

No upgrade possible to 993

Bosch says no parts are for these aviable anymore so they can´t be upgraded to newer versions.
They also will maybe have cutet/destroyed interface cables and the testers themself are "very" used ( some over 10 years old ). Housings (in green) , Rubberprotectors, Voltage suppley are still aviable.

They will come "as is" without waranty or any warantet support in the future.

Next weekend I will get hopefully more Informations.

Please contact me offlist for more details.

Grüsse
