Default 1991 C2 Cruise Control problem

I have a cruise control problem. It locks in at any speed, but then gradually
decreases its hold on the desired speed until I re-set it again ( or "resume")
at which point it does the same thing! Any ideas? Thanks!

There has been a re-call on some cruise control units. you might want to check your records to see if this recall has been addressed or call Porsche with your VIN to see if it was ever repaired with the recall.

Thanks for the reply. The re-call has already been addressed. This seems to be a
different problem.

Dear Tom,
Sounds like a problem with the drive-unit on the engine.
It is possible the electric motor that holds the throttle quadrant through the push rod and cable assembly is having trouble holding the load. I very much doubt it is the control unit but it is still worth checking the connector because I have seen them damaged.
However before you start changing things I recommend you run through the owners manual operating instructions and make sure the lever control on the steering column is working correctly.
Always start cheap and work towards expensive.
Ciao,
Adrian.

Thanks for the help, Adrian. I'll try your suggestions. P. S. .... I own the "Enthusiast's Companion"
it's a great source! Tom
