Post No brake lights?

Brake lights aren't working, but fuse & bulbs are fine.

Where is the switch that triggers the brake light - in the footwell??

Any 'simple' tests to check the switch?

John,

The switch sits under the brake pedal. i've put a pic here:

<a href="http://www.carmovies.net/964/brakeswitch.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.carmovies.net/964/brakeswitch.jpg</a>

its easy to get out, remove the wooden footplate, then unscrew a white plastic nut at the top of the switch, then wiggle it out. I tried cleaning mine up with WD40 to try and lube the switch mechanism a bit, but with no joy. AFN Chiswick had one in stock for about £15-20

John, before you go to that extent, try replacing the fuse, even if the existing one looks fine. This has happened to me twice, where the brake lights stopped working and I replaced what looked like a good fuse. I ended up replacing the 15 amp with a 20 amp and haven't had any problems since.

Problem solved - managed to remove floor board & service the seized switch after prying it open!

Good as new - well, working anyway!
