Aero Mirrors?
I have a '91 964 with the original square mirrors.
I was thinking of buying used original aero mirrors from later model 964.
Are these mirrors a bolt on installation?
Do I have to drill new holes?
Is this a pretty easy install?
Thank You for the responses

jtkz, do a search on this forum, you should get lots of technical info and e-pics as well.
Yes you bolt them on , but compressing the springs in there can be trying.
No new holes.
Depends on you wrench skills and patience.
There's also a geat UK 964 site w/ lots of info as well, but I'm having a Senior moment

I bought a set off of Ebay, not authentic Porsche, but look-alike power Aero mirrors, I think I paid $289 for them. Injected molged plastic of some sort, required quite a bit of sanding to get them smooth and get the molding marks out of them. They are sitting in my garage primed and ready to paint, I too am hoping its a pretty painless install.

Putting the mirrors complete from scratch is a royal PITA...

Got my aero's off EBay - real Porsche item but un-assembled.
I am waiting for a few other bits then will get everything painted at once and struggle to get them assembled. I think there was a thread here before someone detailed their fight with a spring - "standing on the work-bench compressing it with all their weight" seems to come to mind...

Yuppers I had quite a fight, which led to getting one of the mirrors resprayed AGAIN ($70). I had tried to use the G-cllamp method but in the end found the longer method using a stack of washers to be the best and least likely to cause damage.

Many thanks - I'll try the washers as most people seem to have luck with this method and I think I'll practice on the unpainted mirrors a few times so I don't come down with your "Syndrome"

Oh NO! The "Syndrome" label is still alive! (Thanks to JB and SurfTwang for this!)
Yup, after some practice it becomes fairly straightforward....it takes time however.
Good luck!

Bummer, that guy decides to sell to someone else. We emailed back and forth and I was ready to buy it.
He was local PCA member too.
Anyways no big deal. Thank You anyways for all the responses.
