Moving seats back

Moving seats back
Has anyone been able to move the entire passenger or driver seat back to provide more legroom?
A 993 owner told me that he was able to unbolt his seats and move them back a little b/c there is an extra set of holes behind the current ones. He's heard that this can also be done on the 964.
I looked at my seats, and it looks pretty simple to remove them. Six hex head bolts connect the seat track to the floor, but of course they're metric and I don't have a set of hex head metric wrenches.
I'm going to buy some hex metric wrenches next weekend and attempt to move my passenger seat back, but I would hate to unbolt the seat if it turns out that there is not another set of holes to re-bolt the seats to.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. If no one's tried this, I'm going to try it anyways and I'll post whether it's possible or not.

The 964 does have an extra set of holes, but just 4 hex bolts, not 6. Additionally you can drill the rails at the front (the rear already has another set of holes) to get some more room. In total this is ~2.5 inches of additional space.
I'm 6'3" and mostly legs but I now plenty of space.

Dear Drew,
Here are the instructions (text only) to carry out this job. Notice statement about drilling holes at the end of this text.
Ciao,
Adrian

Seat Rail Adjustment
Models Affected:
928 All model years
911 Carrera 2/4
911 Turbo 1991-
Concern:
The seat rails for the above mentioned vehicles can be repositioned to allow for more leg room. The distance the seat is moved compared to the factory selling is 22.5 mm for 911 Carrera 2/4/Turbo and 25 mm for 928 models.
Relocation Procedure:
1. Move the seat to its rear most position and remove the two front allen head bolts which secure the seat rails.
2. Move the seat to its forward most position and remove the four rear allen head bolts which secure the seat rails.
3. On vehicles with electric seats, disconnect the wiring harness to the seat.
4. Lift and remove the seat from the vehicle on 911 Carrera 2/4/Turbo models.
5. 911 Carrera 2/4/Turbo - On the inside/rear securing point, place a 3mm thick washer, Part Number 999 025 125 09, on top of the rear thread bore opening (Figure 1). It may be necessary to cut the carpet to access this area.
6. 911 Carrera 2/4/Turbo - On the outside rear securing point, slide the threaded plate to the rear bore opening (Figure 2). Reinstall and secure the seat.
7. 928 Models - Slide the seat to the rear mounting points and secure the seat (Figure C).
NOTE: For stability reasons, other changes to the seat rails or mounting points, such as drilling additional holes etc., are not permitted.

Where can I get the full instructions (with the diagrams?) If I'm going to do this (and I', 6"3" so more inches would be nice) I'd like the comfort of all the help I can get
Thanks

I was going to try this as well (6ft5) but I then noticed that the inside rear hole is covered by the carpet. As my car is in very good condition inside I didn't want to go bashing the carpet around so I left it.
Does anyone have any advice on how to 'nicely' remove that small bit of carpet?
Thanks in advance.

PS: Riccardo, a "VERY" sharp knife works well but do not forget to seal the carpet edges that you make. Nobody will notice.

Thank you Adrian. Over 10 years later these instructions are still helpful. I moved the seat back on my RHD 964 today. At 6ft 5in, this is a game changer. No more hitting the cruise control lever with my knees, and far easier to transition to from accelerator to the brake.
