Any trick to getting the door button switch out? I tool off the rubber cover and find a botton switch held against a little bowl-shaped piece of metal. I tried to pry the funnel shaped piece out but it won't budge. I need to replace the switch.
That's it! ...once you remove the switch, keep track of the fiber washer, etc.
You will basically have to cut the wire off the switch, re-strip it @1/4" or so and crimp it into the new switch.
During reassembly, make sure you get the fiber washer in there so the switch it closer to your door...or you will have issues with the interior light staying on, alarm function, etc.
Just had this issue, caused by lack of proper grounding, unscrewing the switch, cleaning contact points (hole in doorframe and hinges)with metal-clean and screwing back in, and my interior lights now come on and off as they should... and in my case no need to replace switch. Does anyone know if the rubber protection is available on it´s own??
Yes - Porsche sell them for pennies. Well, GBP1.94 actually. Not only do they keep out dirt and water, but shiny new ones look nice too <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
The engine cover switch also has this rubber so it might be worth replacing at the same time as the door switches...
Nearly forgot - the part number is 901.615.616.20.
I did mine a while back in the way described above...as far as I can tell there is no access from behind and the advice I read at the time was very specific about the dangers of overtightening/stripping threads etc on replacement. Hope this hasn't happened to yours!
