I am a new member and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Rob Hunt, I just purchased a 1990 Porsche Carrera 4. I absoloutly love the awd as I live in the Baltimore metro area, and love driving it in the snow.

Cool

welcome to the group Rob! You should post a photo of your car if you have one.

Now for the abbreviated 964 FAQ.....

  • <font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">All 964's engines leak!</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">Your C4 will understeer at the track - buy a 21MM rear sway bar from Porsche and it'll magically fix your understeer woes</font></li>
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">Yes, 17" wheels will fit on your car - and they look bad *ss</font></li>
<font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Arial,Helvetica,Geneva">BTW - I'd love to see some photos of that NSX of yours - must be an absolute rocket!
Cheers!

Rob,

I am a new member also (4 months) and I have a 1990 C4 too! I LOVE it! It's a great car and its lots of fun to drive. Mine doesn't leak oil

There is a lot of useful information on this forum. I have fixed many small annoying things with the help of these knowledgeable people.

Good luck with your new baby. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

Hi Rob,

Welcome!

Today is a great day for snow driving, no?

I made it in to work today (northern VA) in a C2, but a C4 would have been more fun! (Or more carefree).

Here is a link to the NSX photos and a link to the porsche photos

The NSX has a twin turbo and a 125 direct port NOS setup on it. Will take it to the track soon, but hoping for very low 10's

The Porsche is still stock for now. I am definately going to buy rims for it and am thinking about a turbo for it also. Does anyone know the HP limits of the stock engine? Where is a good place to get 17" wheels? All help is greatly appreciated.

You're C4 looks great!

I also noticed that you've got the "sport" seats. I've got 'em too and think they're great. I've been told that they're actually the same seats as found in a 944 Turbo. Wherever they came from, I think they're a big improvement over the regular seats.

You definately need the put in a set of lowering springs and go to 17" rubber. It really fills the arches up and makes a huge improvement (IMHO) in the looks.

<a href="http://www.wheelenhancement.com" target="_blank">Wheel Enhancement</a> has a good reputation.
Locally, here in South Florida <a href="http://www.erniesalloys.com/porche.html" target="_blank">Ernie's Alloys</a> does a lot of business with PCA members.

As far as turbo charging your car.... Well, you could probably buy a fresh motor cheaper than building yours up. A 3.8 liter upgrade, SC Cams and a set of headers will give you lots of get-up-go and tons of torque.

I bought the car from a friend of mine that was the original owner. The seats always had sheepskins on them. Where is a good place to buy performance parts? I agree with the lowering springs. Where can I buy them? What is the approx price on the 3.8 engine and how much HP will it yield? Thanks for all the help.

I highly recommend that you talk to "Theo" at FVD-USA. 954.781.7116 theo@fvd-usa.com Be sure to tell him that "Terry - The C4 Cabriolet Guy" sent you! Theo will give all the details you'd want and won't BS you.

FVD is a German owned company and they import their parts directly from Germany. If you watched the Rolex 24 this last weekend, you might have seen their banner on Kyle Petty's GT3RS.

Visit fvd-usa.com and order a free catalog.

Welcome. FVD get good reviews (as do a number of other suppliers) if you have a look using search you'll get a good idea of where is good to buy what.

Welcome! I am also fairly new here. I bought my 1990 C2 in November and haven't been the same since. I find myself here almost nightly and love it. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

Congrats on your new acquisition. You'll enjoy ownership as it sounds like you're already a car enthusiast.

P.S. Its a good thing your first name isn't Chuck.
