964 Flat nose Turbo S- factory option!
#16
Jeff- if your referring to my comment that I liked the regular 930 better than the slant nose in the 1980's cars, I meant to say slant nose because I was referring to that generation slant nose vs. that generation's (1976-1989) regular 930- up until now the only slant/flat nosed 911 turbo production car I knew existed was that generation car. Sometimes I just can't write too well, so people mis-read what I say
Anyway, I'm curious as to whether Berkeley ups his bid to win this, or if he will simply contact the seller after the auction is over (as most high bidders do who don't want to pay 100% market value for a car sight unseen).
I'm also curious as to what the Japaneese version of this car looks like with the covered "944-style" lights...anyone have a picture?

I expect the seller has unrealistic expectations....unless someone with deeper pockets than more common sense jumps in, I will try to negotiate a cash and carry deal.....Frankly I think my odds are low....but it is better than the stock market where I am all cash at present
I passed on a '94 C2 Turbo BLK/BLK with 15,000 miles at 60k....the seller was heavy handed and the price was to high to get out quickly....

The reserve does not mean much these days....I have offered the most money so far...just have to see what happens...The car in Texas, with very very low miles, was on the market for three years at under a 100k....recently sold to another dealer in Texas....still for sale
I miss London...I use to be there quite a bit...Our venture firm was doing a joint venture with Holland&Holland....always stayed in a small hotel a block or two off of Berkley Square....enjoyed walking by the Rolls dealer each morning...
Cheers <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

I talked to the seller directly and gave him an offer. Unlike alot of the posts, I do like the car and feel that its rarity adds value.
If you bought the car and tried to resale it down the road, you will need to find a very unique and specific buyer for the car. This car's value will go down if it is driven so I don't know how much fun it would be just to look at it. This wouldn't be a car I would pay a premium for. If one of the other posts is correct, and the car was for sale for $136,000, you would be foolish to buy it at that amount.
Bottom line... I think the seller feels the car is worth alot more than the full retail market.
Just my two cents.

Thanks for the advice.....I think the asking price is $105,000 but the car is bare of options....real value is likely less than $100,000....
There is another car on the market too....
You are on the money about resale....I took a bit of a bath on a mint mint 996 Millennium...
I will let you guys know <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

THEY WANT $140K if you call the dealership in Westmore,IL. for the red FLATNOSE S on ebay now. It's fine car but give me a 1991 C2 turbo and 100K cash and at least I won't be afraid to put mileage on the "91"

I have to agree with that majority here, the "flatnose" is ugly as heck. But, I know that the real "S" is in existence. I used to know a guy that had one of the really rare 3.6 turbo "s" without the silly flatnose option. Let me tell yaa, thats a sweet ride. All the classic look of the 911 and all hp you can handle in a single turbo. By the way, i loved the look on his pipes, with the duces on each side.

Not knowing the market value, I talked to an expert in the field.... the GR car was new to the market but the other car,/blk/blk, is known....the trading baseline is $105,000, plus or minus for options, for a collector quality car.
For a mint driver with some miles the pricing falls to $90,000 to $95,000. The gentleman I talked with owns one or two of these and he follows the US cars very closely.
Dr. Chris I suspect neither one will sell on Ebay....probably some Enron or Kmart executive will snap them up <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

ParCars has two of the model you described on consigment....they have a photo of each...I think the asking prices are in the $112-114,000 range...Both have real low miles
