Question Strut tower brace

I just got my $100. cupon. Does anyone know if there is a Porsche accessory strut tower brace? Car is a 90C4. I assume that the coupn can only be used on a genuine Porsche accessory. I had a absolutely great one on my 930, supplied by AJUSA.

Yes, I did. I handled your product, and it IS excellent. I have just answered my own question:
Yes, there is a factory strut offered by Porsche for the 964. A mere $1000.+!!!!
AJUSA makes a copy of the Carerra Cup brace, similar to the one I had on my 930- it is superb, presently on sale for $159.
RUF has one for about $270.

Think I'll save my coupon for a while. Mabey buy the wife a nick-nack or something from their boutique fru-fru catalog. No way in hell am I spending $1K ( mabey they include major suspension pieces with this?)

Horst,

I didn't see the strut brace you're referring to on their website. I found this one:
<a href="http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/inventory/view_product?prod_id=0000000129&part_number=AJR%20400%20117%20K" target="_blank">AJ USA Strut Brace</a>

..but at $233

Horst,

Don't hold onto that certificate too long, expires June 30th.

PS. I have the Brey Krause strut bar, around $215, and like other BK products, it's top notch.

Porsche sells-or at least used to sell- the Carrera Cup strut brace at the dealer as an accessory, part number: 964.343.529.70. Don't know price. Give it a try as an outlet for your discount coupon.

There has to be a dealer somewhere in the USA selling it for a similar price.

I just looked at my June 2003 Excellence magazine and Crescent City Porsche pictures a "Genuine Porsche Strut Brace for 993/964" (which is the part number 964.343.529.70 bar) in their ad on page 49 and prices it at $275. <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Decided to go with the AJUSA bar. The one on my 930 was a beutiful piece. Sale price of $159. expired yesterday, but they sneaked me in. Salesman said he still had a couple. I imagine that if anyone is interested, they still might do the same. Sooooooo- I still have the $100. cupon. What should I do with it?

Last year, Brumos Porsche was offering a really nice discount (I think 20%) on an order of $200 or more. With the coupon, a $200 item would cost you $60.

Don't know if they are doing it again. I e-mailed to ask, but have not gotten a reply.

With that deal, the Genuine Porsche Strut Tower Brace would work for me, even if its lists sells for $275!

Can't understand why anyone would pass up the Brey Kraus bar...it's "top notch" in my book, in function AND looks!

You just can't beat the classy look of stainless.

I have an observation and a question:

Yeah, BK makes some good looking and functional items for the P-Car. I had one of their harness trusses in my SC - looked really cool but more importantly, it was really built. It is the only piece of equipment that PCA allows to be used for harness mounting, rather than the floor. But then it dawned on me that running harnesses without a roll bar is rather dangerous. In the event of a roll over, and the roof collapsed, the harnesses would be holding you upright against that roof. Ouch! If you don't have a roll bar, the stock three point belt is far safer.

Question: there was always a question if a strut brace really helps in the SC. But I gather that since the factory sells a strut brace for the 964 and 993, that they are effective at the margins of speed and turning. True? Is there something about the coil over suspension, versus the old torsion bar suspension in SC and Carreras that makes the brace effective in the later cars?
