Post Clutch Preference with LWF

Hi All,

Currently doing a LWF conversion, I've check all the archives and no luck.

I have a LWF, Turbo PP, and a 4 puck Sachs Race Metallic Clutch no spring,(part#88.1864.999.838). I'm hesitant in using the race clutch because my car is a street/track car.

With a LWF and a Turbo PP(14000-15000N) what clutch would be a good combination?

I've heard others using the clutch from a 91-94 Turbo (964.116.014.91), others using OE disc (964.116.014.90), or a Sachs RSCH Clutch (964.116.011.61).

Any help would be great

Thanks

I changed my clutch assembly when I installed a 6- speed gearbox recently and faced this problem. My car had the LWF and RS disc installed at the factory.

I used the RSR 3.8/3.6 Turbo part number for the pressure plate: 964.116.028.53 and the Clubsport 993 RS part number for the driven disc: 964.116.011.61.

My information shows that the part number 964.116.027.00 pressure plate used in 1990 and '91 cars has 8800-9600 Newtons clamp force, the 1992 and later 964 cars (and Carrera Cup cars) use part number 964.116.028.90 pressure plate which has 10,600 to 11.500 Newtons clamp force, the 3.3 Turbo 964.116.028.91 pressure plate has 12,500 to 13,400 Newtons and the RSR/3.6 Turbo pressure plate part number 964.116.028.53 that I used has the 14,000 to 15,000 Newtons clamp force.

This combination I used definitely has more bite than the original parts did at very reasonable pedal forces and work perfectly together in my opinion.

WOW GP!! ...IMHO, you should've let Dan at Windward set you up with what you need.

I would NOT install the Puck clutch, you'll be miserable!! Talk about stalls at traffic lights...imagine on a hill!

Hi Jeff,

Actually I've had this clutch for quite some time, approx 2 years. So I was thinking to cut some costs by using it. But from the feed back I'm getting I'll probably go back and go through Dan.

The problem with Dan is that he only can sell me a kit. I already have new Turbo PP, LWF, T/O Bearing.
