Default Accelerometer Parts Numbers

Just wondering if anybody's got these part numbers handy. I need a new one (luckily insurance is buying it and not me) but my wrench can't seem to find the parts number. TIA

Did you have one go bad, Garrett? I was thinking about holding on to it and seeing if I couldn't get the old "compressed air" trick to unstick it just in case I needed it in the future, but if you need one right now you can have it.

Brian:

Send it to me! I work with accelerometers, and have some expertise (OK, lower ignorance) in this area. I think I may be able to figure out how the PDAS accelerometers work, and possibly figure out how to fix them. I may also be able to locate a workable replacement for a much better price than the dealers are asking.

I would not fiddle with the crash sensors, because you really don't want a spurious air bag deployment. If I understand the PDAS, accelerometer failure is not catastrophic, but economical rebuilt or aftermarket replacements are needed.

I will ship it to Garrett as soon as I am finished!

I never got my hands on one. From what I have read about them here, they appear to be nothing more than a switch that triggers above a certain acceleration level. If that is the case, a few shots of compressed air and some cleaning with electrical contact cleaner should get them working like new.

I think I need to clean mine, so that will be this weekends job!

Are there any alternatives (other than OEM replacements)? Can they be removed/bypassed (probably not) without any adverse effects?

I fixed mine by opening it and spraying it with an electric cleaner.

You can buy them for $100 bucks plus shipping if you know where to look.
