Rant - bloody insurers suck!!!
Well
nearly a month after smashing into the kerb after a spin in the wet, I have a new rear wheel & tyre, but my alignment is all over the place. The 'repairers' - I use this term loosely - didn't seem to think anything was strange with -2 deg camber rear left and +.5 deg camber rear right (where the impact was).
Front left was -3 deg camber, front right -1 deg camber. This didn't ring any alarm bells with them either - other than ' its out of spec, here have your car back'!
Needless to say, I am now into engineers reports and so on...
lesson - never crash your car!!

Interesting, John - I'm sure I read something very similar just recently, maybe on the 993 board.
How ridiculous to expect people to accept an 'unrepaired' car after an accident!

Result!!
The MD of the Engineer assessing company thought it was strange that the 'repairers' asked me for the relevant pages of the workshop manual to adjsut the suspension!! They also reported an elongated hole on a lower control arm - suggesting it was worn through wear and tear - this of course is intentionally elongated to adjust castor!!
He is recommending to the insurers that I take my car to a Porsche Specialist (hurrah)!!

I'm going through a similar experience. Tagged the median after hitting some slush/ice a year ago. My friend recently looked at my rear left wheel and suggested an alignement. From the #'s it certainly looks like the insurance company was billed for a 4-wheel alignment, but only the fronts were done.
Sad thing is that the local official Porsche dealership is the one that did the alignment. Given the relatively miniscule cost of an alignment, I suspect it was simple laziness, or perhaps incompetence.
