I'm buying some autocross tires for myself. I'm considering the following:
225/45/17 for front
275/40/17 for rear
I've been pondering whether to go with 255/40/17 for rear or 275/40/17? One thought is the 275 will give me more traction but may not be well paired with the 225 front. I'd also like to control "the push" behavior of the 964's so a closer size between front rear may do that better. Does anyone have an opinion here?
I'm also trying to determine should I get the Victoracers or the ECSTA V700? Which is better or a better question - what are the tradeoffs between the two models?
Thanks.
Boris

I just ran Victoracers at Thunderhill. Wow wow wow!! Day and night difference between these vs. Pirelli P-zeros (17" cup wheels). Can't comment on the Ecsta's, but highly recomment heat-cycled victoracers.

Boris,
As for your question about tire widths, everything I've read or heard about this topic indicates that wider treads in the rear will increase understeer. Here's a page from <a href="http://www.rennsportsystems.com/~porsche/1-e.html" target="_blank">Rennsport Systems'</a> website which outlines the affect of various suspension changes. Since you want to reduce the push you experience while autocrossing, it appears the 255 rears are the way to go.

Ecsta V700 if ordered shaved and heat cycled. This is the tire of the future for Kumho. Personally, I am running VictoRacer V700 tires. I am a creature of habit and can't seem to make the change. The Ecsta V700 tires are a wee bit softer, and the corners of the tires designed for a little bit better turn in, and they are a wee bit wider. If you want a comparison on the tires, I have an article on the POC web page...http://www.porscheclub.org and the same article on the San Diego PCA web page..http://www.pcasd.org
