Oil pressure light - panic!
Due to work commitments and then 10 days in the sun (!), my C4 has not been 'exercised' for the past three weeks - normally taken for a decent long blast at least once a week.
Came home on Sunday and went to take her for a run yesterday. Started her up and there were the usual plethora of warning lights but after what seemed like forever ( probably 5 secs max ), the oil pressure light was still on. So I switched off immediately & then tried again, but light went out immediately this time.
I am pretty certain that the oil pressure gauge was near the top after my first start up, and I know that the oil was up the mark as it was the last thing I checked before putting the car away after yesterdays drive ( hot after a run & 20 mins idling ).
So my question is basically, should I be worrying ( too late, I am!), is the pressure light fed by the same sender as the gauge, or does it sound like due to the oil draining away during the three weeks it has stood the light sender was sticking slightly.
Your experiences and reassurances would be MUCH appreciated.
I have to say that in the 4 months that I've owned the car, this is the first time that I've felt the 'newbie nerves'!!
Cheers
