Default Color coded Wheels

Ok, now I am really jealous. Seen a few nice 964s with color coded wheels, got this picture sent to me recently, and they are beautiful. ( luck man Jorgen).

I'm based in the UK ( in the middle ... peterborough), can anyone advise on where and how I can get something similar done.

Can my existing alloys be painted ( regular 17" Cup alloys) and any ideas on the cost. Has anyone else done something similar ?

My Cup 1's are ready by Friday. I would advise you to check a few powdercoating companies before trusting them your wheels. I got two addresses and although they're quite reputable the difference in finishing was big. What you don't want is a Hamerite look, this is really ugly and too many refurbished wheels I've seen in the past have this. The guy who's doing my wheels has +30 years of experience in the biz and told me that you have to warm up the wheels before applying the coatings (one color+one varnish both powder). Not doing this can result in the Hamerite look. The prices overhere range from 20 to 60 pounds per wheel. By the end of the week I'll post some pics. On the url herebelow you can scroll down to see what a wheel done by them looks like.

Before I forget. All RAL and custom colors are available. Stay standard and you pay less.

I like the look of painted centres especialy on teh cragraphic type spked wheels. In the GT purley Porshce that droped through my door today someone askes the same question. this is the answer they give.....

Jasmine porshalink 01282 697171 offers a wheel painting service at around £60 per corner they use paint first then stove enamel for teh final finish

No afiliation just passing on Info I read in a mag. Don't know how good the finish is.

I would love too see a close up of JoeW's RS . I am thinking about doing the same thing with mine.....however, keeping the outer edge polished. Center (5 spokes) black.

Thanks, Peter.

My rims aren't polished, R6XTerra, but painted -- just the original wheels, which had been pretty scuffed up, and I was too cheap to pay for a refinish just to use them with snows ... if you do this, you really have to be willing to discount your time and should plan to invest heavily in automotive masking tape!

Here are closer shots -- hope they help.

Joe
